Sears and Fraser on Bench But No Parr as Norwegian Closes in on Exit
Saturday, 9th Jan 2016 14:24

Freddie Sears and Ryan Fraser are amongst the subs for this afternoon’s third round FA Cup tie against Portsmouth at Portman Road, but there is no place on the bench for Jonny Parr, who is close to completing a move back to Norway and top flight side Strømsgodset.

Town boss Mick McCarthy named his starting XI yesterday which shows seven changes from the team which drew 0-0 at Burnley last week. New loan signing Paul Digby makes his debut at the heart of the defence.

While Parr’s exit has not yet been completed, we understand the clubs have agreed a deal and the move could be formalised as early as Monday.

Portsmouth include ex-Blues Gary Roberts, who skippers Pompey on his first return to Portman Road, and keeper Brian Murphy.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Malarczyk, Digby, Knudsen, Skuse, Hyam, Maitland-Niles, Oar, Varney, Pitman. Subs: Gerken, Smith, Fraser, Bru, Tabb, Sears, Kenlock.

Portsmouth: Murphy, Davies, Barton, Webster, Stevens, Hollands, Close; Roberts (c), McNulty, Bennett, McGurk. Subs: Bass, Haunstrup, May, Boco, Tollitt, Evans, Chaplin.
