Marriott Joins Carlisle on Loan
Monday, 18th Aug 2014 09:06

Striker Jack Marriott has joined League Two Carlisle United on a month’s loan. The 19-year-old frontman spent much of last season on loan in the Conference with Woking.

Boss Mick McCarthy said: “Jack Marriott has gone out on loan to Carlisle for a month. He needs to play some football, like the others, and we’ve got the other guys in.

“Plus when we have the two-week break they’ll have games and he can still be playing in that. Let’s hope he gets some games.”

Cheltenham Town boss Mark Yates has revealed that he also hoped to sign Marriott on loan: “The one we moved onto yesterday we think is joining Carlisle, a centre forward from Ipswich, a young lad, so I think we’ve missed out there.”

Coincidentally, Marriott may make his Carlisle debut at Cheltenham on Tuesday with the sides set to meet at Whaddon Road.

The point is we are going nowhere under this manager so rather than borrow a forward from another club at the wrong end of his career why not perceiver with this young man. Has he not had enough loan time?

This loan can only be of benefit to Marriot & ultimately ITFC. He will be playing against some wily old foxes who will toughen him up, he will have to learn how to cope with the physical stuff & still be able to sniff out chances & put them away. A good move IMO, but it,s up to him now to progress.

A young 19 year old lad going all the way to Carlisle for a months loan! Won't blame him if he can't produce any form up there, a young lad going out on loan should be much closer to home

Pinstripeblue you are right with what you're saying. The point I was trying to make is there are some posters on here that are never happy. The ones who want mick out (idiotic by the way) just be careful what you wish for. We haven't got a bottomless pot of money to splash around and were making the most of what we have. As for the comments about playing nice football. Fulham knocked it around really well against us yet we beat them. It's a results business and nobody can argue with that

My god I'd thought we'd sold Marriott for £20 and a pack of m&ms and offered big frank a 10 year deal worth £50k a week way some of you are moaning! Marriott IS NOT READY for championship football, yes we could play him, but who would you drop? Murphy or mcgoldrick? If anyone suggests that either of them should be then I suggest you go check in to rehab for you problems as you are clearly high on something. Marriott needs a 5 year deal then a year on loan at a league two club then a year at a league on club.

As for all this "reject" cr*p, a player doesn't always do well at a club but why does everyone have to label players coming from other clubs as "rejects".

Perhaps Carlisle have a couple of creative midfield players that will benefit Marriot. He will be better off there then rather than playing with the likes of Hyam, Tabb et all. As long as we have Boring Billy as manager that is what we will be stuck with. By the way, when are we going to spend some money so that we can qualify for FFP!!!

There's some strange people on here ! I could have sworn we won our first match & were fairly universally considered unlucky not to have got at least a point in our second ..... fairly dominating possesion & having twice as many attempts as the opposition home team ...... & then we send a young 3/4 choice striker out for a quality months loan with a lower league side to gain experience/match time ...... & all hell break's loose ...... doom, gloom Mick out !!! Get real people ..... have some faith !

Last season everyone said how Taylor going out on loan would only benefit him and the club . This was rubbish as if MM rated him he would play same as Jack not going to happen as he isn't big enough to defend set pieces or do the dirty stuff , fine qualities for a forward! !
Only scored in one of three so far MM prove me wrong with your style if you can and I will be delighted

Not really any surprise at all now that Sammon has come here for a season...just a shame Mr Nouble didn't go out on loan rather than being out of his depth last season.

Marriott out on loan for 1 month.
The moaners use it to say MM won't play youth.
MM plays lots of youth in the league cup.
The moaners use it to say MM is disrespecting those who paid money to go see the game.

Simple. No matter what the evidence is, the Moaners will moan.

Moan on lads, moan on. You'll still be moaning in 20 years time no matter what we do in between.

Good luck lad.

He's only got limited opportunities because MM wont play him! Other Championship clubs give youth a chance but here we'd sooner play the likes of Frank. Marriott has real goal threat and just needed to get on bench a few times. we;ve now got Derby surplus!! Sorry MM but you're going in wrong direction.

Oldegold, you're the one who gets personal one here mate, and I can, and will, prove it, if needed. No bad language on here from me. Also, I'm expressing the common view that Mick has done a tremendous job with what little budget he has had, and to moan about it is laughable. We were League 1 certaintees when he arrived. Now look at us - 4pts off of the playoffs last year, with out spending a penny. We now have a stronger complete squad than last season as we are not so reliant on the service of Cresswell to McGoldrick. Cameron Stewart has quality, Alex Henshall will be a brilliant player in a couple of years, and we have Clarke, Bishop, and Marriott to look forward to. We a re also very close to Category 1 status in terms of academy, and when this is achieved, more young players will come through and appear in the first team. The club is being run to a budget to get us into better financial shape, meaning we will actually have a club in the future - the way it was being run was leading to financial collapse. There are no wrong s for Mick to right apart from getting us back where should be, in the League above. He will do that, but it will take time. It took Cardiff long enough, and it will take us a while to, but it will happen with Mick at the helm

Luka....that is the way to do it.Express your ideas, don't insult others who maybe don't agree with you ( by defining their ideas as spouting rubbish ) and let's get on.Your last post was legible and had valid points in it..and most importantly, you didn't condescend to offending fellow supporters. Onwards and upwards..

Blimey, some complete overreaction on here. The lad has gone out on loan for a month, not been sold. He'll come back a better player for it as our reserves aren't competitive. I find it hard to believe that MM wants to sell him. I hope Carlisle take to him as we did Jonny Williams. Loans can be used to great effect for all parties.
