Forest Away Awaits Replay Winners
Sunday, 5th Jan 2014 14:02

The winners of the third round replay between Town and Preston at Deepdale a week on Tuesday will play Nottingham Forest away in the fourth round.

Forest thrashed West Ham 5-0 at the City Ground in their third round tie this afternoon.

Town were last at Forest in the Championship last month when the game ended 0-0.

The teams have previously been drawn together three times in the FA Cup. In January 1981 the Blues won 1-0 at Portman Road in a replay following a 3-3 draw at the City Ground.

Forest won 3-0 at home in the 1988/89 season and again at the City Ground by the same scoreline in the 1996/97 campaign.

Forest very much have the upper hand overall, winning 34 of the games between the two sides with 15 ending in draws and Town victorious 19 times. It's just over 14 years since the Blues last won at the City Ground.

Fourth round ties will be played on the weekend of January 25th and 26th when the Blues are currently scheduled to face Reading at home in the Championship.

Awful draw. Away to a fellow Championship club is about as uninspiring as it gets.

our draw just about sums up the entire draw for this round. awful, boring and do not want

Ugh. Didn't much enjoy that trip last month, never mind playing them again on the back of what they've done to West Ham today.

Is it just me or have the 3rd and 4th Round draws been underwhelming overall? Don't feel my interest being sparked by any of the ties. Doesn't help when you've got Matt Smith mixing up the numbers, Paul Allen dropping the bloody balls and his demented cousin wearing a jumper that screams 'look at me, aren't I crazy?'

May as well lose to preston, forest will beat them and that will keep em distracted from the league, potentially handy draw if uninspiring

Lots of happy souls on here again today. TWTD seems to attract doom mongers. Focus on QPR folks, much more important.

Can we just forfeit the match against Preston? What a poor draw, hardly anything to get excited about again..

Apart from a home draw I daresay that Forest fans are also disappointed they didn't get Arsenal, ManU, ManC or Liverpool.

This is potential:
Jan 11 (H) QPR
Jan 14 (A) Preston
Jan 18 (A) Millwall
Jan 25 (A) Nottingham Forest
Jan 28 (A) Leeds

overall the 4th round draw hasn't produced one single outstanding match! Bring on the Forest!

Win away to PNE then away to Forest, that would make life interesting and wouldn't it be nice. Having just watched Forest demolish WHU reserves it would also mean that we have improved beyond recognition though. Maybe if some different players were deployed....

The winners of the game against Forest at the end of January are only 2 wins from playing at Wembley!!! Beat Preston and the players and MM/TC have a great incentive to beat Forest

...... you miserable people - the objective should be to go out and win every game we compete in - otherwise why bother !!

What a boring draw. There would be a slight consolation if we were able to wipe away the smugness of Forest fans (they already think they're through to the 5th round), but first we must try and get through Preston again. *Sigh*.

Normality has been resumed in that Ipswich get a bad cup draw. Winning at Preston and Forest, who are both in excellent form, seems very unlikely.

Keep winning & who knows? C'mon Ipswich.

Send the reserves up to Preston and tell them to go for it, nothing to lose.

Not sure about normality, we've had Arsenal at PR and the Emirates and Chelsea away (x2) over the past few years. And a trip to Aston Villa last season. The fact we don't tend to stay in the cup for very long doesn't help.

re. this situation, Preston away might not be a bad thing if it gives the likes of Loach, Mings, Tabb, SEB, Edwards, Taylor etc more minutes and keeps them sharp if they're needed for league action. Just a shame that we don't really have enough cover at the back to rest Smith, Berra, Chambers and Cresswell as that schedule looks demanding and a lot of travel.

We will beat both preston and forrest and then get involved in another boring draw , but never mind hey ?

We can't be as bad against Preston in the replay like we were yesterday.
Win that and the Forest game (very possible) and you never know!
