Swansea Midfielder Linked
Sunday, 14th Jul 2013 21:14

Town and Blackpool are showing interest in Swansea central midfielder Kemy Agustien, according to one of this morning’s tabloids. The 26-year-old Dutchman has been made available for transfer by the Swans despite having a year left on his contract.

Agustien started his career with Willem II, before moving on to AZ Alkmaar in 2006. After four years with Town’s 1981 UEFA Cup final opponents — which included loan spells at Roda JC and Birmingham City — he moved on to Swansea in 2010 on a Bosman.

The former Dutch U21 international, who spent time on loan at Crystal Palace towards the end of 2010/11, made 21 appearances for the Welsh club last season.

Another central midfield player wouldn’t appear to be amongst Town’s current priorities with Cole Skuse - who was at his former club Bristol City's friendly with Rangers yesterday - and Jay Tabb having been added to the squad already this summer.

Elsewhere, Blackburn are claimed to be looking to off-load ex-Blues loanee DJ Campbell only a couple of weeks after signing the 31-year-old on a two-year deal following his release by QPR.

We understand the Blues were amongst the clubs to have held talks with Campbell, who scored 10 goals in a 17-game loan spell at Portman Road before Christmas, prior to him signing his deal with Blackburn, where he had been on loan in the final months of last season.

Wait!!! Why are Blackburn trying to offload Campbell, he has only just signed for them!!! We won't sign him; we can't afford the transfer money and we can't afford his wages!!!!

He didn't travel with the Swans on their pre-season tour of the Netherlands and their supporters have pretty much written him off. He was being slated for his inconsistent performances, and many supporters were also nervous of his injury record.

From the Planet Swans Forum: "Talent but no application." "Agustien will always get a contract (somewhere) but will always disappoint." "Agustien only has himself to blame. He was given the opportunities but he didn't take them." "Clogging up the wage bill."
"Agustien is leaving in the summer..." "...excellent news."

"When he's in the mood he is as good as any midfielder we've got. Nobody can play as well as he did against Man Utd without serious ability. Getting the f***er to stay fit enough and show it week in, week out is the problem." "A real enigma."

People may disagree with me on this last point, but the 39 points on his driving licence may also not endear him to Mick. Given that we are not short of options here, I would be surprised to see this go through, especially given these additional caveats.

39 points!? Blimey - still not enough to avoid relegation though!

RegencyBlue - his manager, up the wall and down the other side by the sounds of it.
Better players out there, or perhaps we need a player to keep chops company!

DJ Cambell could be true. Blackburn is a club with a huge boardroom rift as we all know... But surely, surely signing and then loaning a player like DJ would be madness....

Jack Walker must be spinning in his grave.

A spurious link at best but makes me all misty eyed about a dutch midfielder playing for us once again one day. Unfortunately this one sounds like Swansea's very own JET!

Kevin Doyle? Ebank-Blake? I know the latter is injured - just wonder if there's any mileage in one of these two?

Agree with ArnieM.
Bring in Billy Sharpe (plus a defender or two) to complete the jigsaw

I wondered if we'd get linked with this guy because when he got released it said he's a right back on sky sports news, not a central midfielder. If he is a right back then great but i don't think we need another centre midfielder now with Skuse, Hyam, Tabb, Wordsworth.

Decent player who shows some real quality at times. Offers a physical presence, but is cultured on the ball. Can't see him coming to us tbh. He could still do a job for a lowly prem team.
