Tabb Agrees Town Deal
Wednesday, 5th Jun 2013 12:32

Town have confirmed that former loanee Jay Tabb has agreed to sign a two-year permanent deal following his release by Reading. TWTD revealed that the 29-year-old had been offered terms in late April after his successful spell towards the end of the season.

Tabb told the club site: "I really enjoyed my time at Ipswich and I'm delighted to sign permanently. I'm pleased to get things sorted and I can't wait to get going again."

The midfielder, who made seven starts and two sub appearances for the Blues during 2012/13, scoring one goal, will officially put pen to paper on July 1st when David McGoldrick and Cole Skuse are also set to formalise their deals with Town.

Meanwhile, released Sunderland centre-half Matthew Kilgallon will reportedly be weighing up his options while he is away on holiday next week.

The Blues have held talks with the 29-year-old, who is also understood to be interesting Birmingham, Blackburn and Wigan.

Reminds me of Sammy Lee in terms of stature but also tenacity. Great addition to the squad, well done MM. Welcome JT

So much for we can't afford players and it looks like he's off elsewhere. Maybe instead of people scare mongering they should wait and just see how Mick does his business. A great addition to the team. COYB's.

This is the player Mick wanted. Do you know that Mr.Brazil??? Now f*** off to the pub, tell them about all whispers you've heard and stop causing unrest among Town fans.

'This is shocking news, goes to show that Mick doesn't know what he is doing and Portman road will collapse into a black hole come September 2013..........' This is no doubt the likely quote from Walbers!!!

Good news we have done more in this pre-season re signings than the past 5. Good of the borough council to move Ipswich 60 miles South West to London off the back of recommendations from PJ and Roy or have I missed something?

Good news and worth noting that rumours and hearsay to be firmly ignored. MM just gets on with the job.

Welcome again. Hopefully a great season ahead. A lot of speculation in Ireland that St. Ledger will sign on a free. On the fence on this one.

Another pice in the jigsaw, squad now looking close to completion ?
Loach (plus ? Henderson ?)
Hewitt, Chambers, Smith, Cresswell (Mings plus 1/2 more sgnings ?)
Edwards, Skuse, Hyam, Tabb (Wordsworth plus 1 more) JET still here also
McGoldrick, Taylor (Nouble, Marriott, Murphy?) Chopra still here
So ignoring Chops and JET and assuming we bring in Murph we only need one more signing before one of the above will not make the bench. So at most I reckon we are can surely only be looking at 3 more outfield players and I'd guess that would be 2 defenders and 1 midfielder. Murph and Taylor can both provide midfield cover so maybe no more midfielders and just 2 defenders. Either way it looks like for the first time since pre-Clegg 90% of the first team squad will be in place for day one of training.

Agreed, "Tractorog." An o.g. indeed! (but you no doubt got my point)

Tabb's ferret-like movement around the pitch and his general footballing body language remind me of that particular, and famous, 'Eric' from our past years of glory.

Apologies to THE Mr. Gates too. Where are you now? Always a favourite player for me, but, when you were later at Middlesboro,' why did you rarely pass the ball at those many practice sessions?

Great to see players like Tabb and Murphy come on loan and sign permanently, makes a nice change from players seeing a loan here as a stepping stone to better things; i.e. Andrews, Campbell...

Good solid squad signing for this league . For me shows the good side of the loan system , we now have McGoldrick,Murphy and Tabb signed maybe Stearman to follow ,came on loan it worked out we sign them rather than signing players on long term contracts that you are then stuck with if it fails Priskin,Martin,Fulop, and especially Chopra ,if he had been loaned we could have seen his off field issues and steered clear

Great signing but were looking top heavy in midfield or will we be playing five in the middle?

Good news! Welcome aboard, Jay. Maybe we can't compete with the parachute payments and sign the expensive "names," but I've got a feeling MM will put together a hard working, solid squad that can give the "stars" a run for their money. COYB!

great news welcome back to the club.
I think we need a winger who can play either side a versatile defender and a back up keeper.I think we must have players in the reserves and youth set up who can come into the first team squad and act as cover and maybe get a chance to show what they can do.

KerryBlue: It could be 3,4 or 5 in midfield. All this does is give the dynamic duo (MM & TC) another option. Also, remember that there are suspensions, injuries and congested fixture lists to contend with.

Also, I have to say I agree 100% with Surco72's comment. Expensive commitments that went wrong!!

Good solid signing but we still need more goals and creativity particularly wide, unless Cressy and Hewitt are pushing forward. Would like an hard running creative attacking midfielder - is Brands this type of player?
But good stuff - this and a quality CB and another good keeper and its looking like a decent squad at last.

Welcome Jay.
Looked quality and could be the answer to the creativity we need.

What we have to remember is with Tabb and Skuse signing we still have Taylor and Wordsworth which will feel like 4 signings already. Wordsworth I admit played with us last season at the end after injury but made a big impact when he returned. I feel our squad is not a million miles away providing we can retain our key players.

I'm looking at our squad at the moment, and it seems as though there's a lot of competitiion for places now, particularly up top, as has been mentioned.

Worried about us defensively to be honest, i'd be very happy with the 5 guys at the back who finished up last year, although i'm also comfortably with Hewitt stepping in for Stearman, but don't we only have Mings as our final defender?

Oh, ps, chuffed to bits with Tabb.
