Good man, keep it up! I don't mind being proved wrong in this sort of situation. just hope it isn't a lucky couple of games for him. COYB

A few good games now that he needs a new contract either at Ipswich or elsewhere, so frustrating during the last 18 months when we all knew he could do better.
Would he really be committed to Ipswich in the future ???

Well deserved, thought he was excellent and showing some of the form in his first year with us. Sadly, Grant lost his way and has been poor this and indeed last season. Although playing well, with little to play for, I do find it odd that PJ is relying on a midfielder who is highly likely to leave us in the Summer. The treatment of Hyam is appalling IMO - particulary as Bowyer is the past not the future of ITFC. Bowyers one year deal is up in the Summer as well - I hope we don't extend it!

Very tough call. Seems it will depend on what Leadbitter will accept because Jewell clearly rates him and says he wants to keep him so it seems an offer will be forthcoming.

Take old Norris articles and insert Leadbitter, he can't wait to get out of here, Norris signed for Pompey even though they were broke, maybe Leadbitter will go to Glasgow Rangers!

Jas why are you so defiantly thick?

The reason, funnily enough, that our manager is using players who are in good form is because he wants his and our team to finish as high up the table as possible. Is that not important to you? Finishing as high up the table this season is just as important as blooding youngsters for next season.

I'd rather use Bowyer for the rest of the season and finish two points of the play offs than use Hyam and finish where we are now 10 points off the play offs, wouldn't you?

Jas did you go saturday???? Bowyer was a big part of the reason we won! His grit and determination not to mention fantatsic ball through to Cresswell. I am beginning the hope we get another season out of him, not to start games but to come on at the later stages......... as for Hyam he will be given his chance, but Leadbitter is definately a better player and why pay him a very good for him not to get in the team eh? would seem like cutting off your own nose to me. By all accounts PJ's tactics saturday were spot on, we realised who was causing us problems first half and closed him down second half so Peteborough didnt really get a look in after the break.

Must say he is playing now like he did when he first joined club, just because his contract is running out is no reason to drop him, i want us to win all our remaining games. The higher we finish the more chance we have of attracting better players in the summer.
With all the games coming up over the next few weeks i am sure PJ will give all players game time to keep the team fresh.

Has he suddenly improved to earn another contract?? I'd hope not and that any sportsman would give there all at every game, for their club and the people paying to watch. The same has been said about Bullard, but are naturally competitive people able to careless about their perfornance after the contract has been signed?

To add to bluelady's comment, there is prize money at the end of the season which is based on finishing position - so clearly it is better to make the effort to finish as high as possible. Hence use your best resources to achieve that.
There haven't been many times when we could have said this, but I agree that PJ got the tactics and subs spot on this time.
Please note that I have no connection with a similar named poster.

Agree with bluelady, Bowyer was very good again when he came on and on those type of performances, wouldn't mind him for another season if he is prepared to take the paycut?
JAS, mathematically Town could still make the play offs and stranger things have happened (although I don't think they will). To give up on the season with roughly a quarter of the points still available and the momentum of winning and moving up the table to see how high we can finish. I agree with you that it is strange that Hyam has been dropped from the 18, but Leadbitter has played well of late and would seem harsh to drop him on the basis he may not sign a new contract on lesser wages. PJ may reintroduce him if Drury needs a rest.
The case is similar with Carson, another young player put aside but whilst Town are winning and drawing it is hard to change the team. JET needs a spell back on the bench IMO after Saturday, so perhaps he (Carson) will play too?

He gets alot of stick on twtd's, anyone ever considered it could have been the way Keane had him playing that didn't help him.

A bit off topic but why is there not a thread regarding the defacing and vandalism to the Bobby Robson Memorial garden in Newcastle and the possibility that a minority of Norwich supporters could be behind it? I find this absolutely discusting, what sort of mindless idiots must there be on this planet! As Sir Bobby is undoubtedly a legend of this club why has nothing been mentioned on here? or have I missed something.

osborne1nil - you wrote "it is strange that Hyam has been dropped from the 18". That actually highlights a crucial aspect of the Hyam inclusion debate.

With the change in FA rules on substitutes, it's now reduced to a matchday 16 (11 on the pitch plus 5 subs), not 18 any more. If it was still 7 subs, as last season, I'm pretty sure we'd see him on the bench if not starting. However, with the more limited numbers, every place on the bench is precious, needing to either be versatile cover or impact, not merely "didn't make the cut to start this game but close". Some clubs have even experimented with leaving out the replacement 'keeper to juggle numbers.

According to some of Phil's reports, Hyam has been included in the travelling party for away games, even tho he didn't make the final 16. So he's just on the edge of the squad, but doesn't fulfil the criteria for being a sub if not starting.

Disgraceful. Playing for a new contract elsewhere. Has been abject for most of time here, then picks up 3 months before a move. Mercenary.

Has nobody considered that Leadbitters better form has coincided with him NOT having the captains armband. Keep him if possible, though i doubt he,ll want to stay after the abuse thats been dished out to him this season.

osborne1nil added 21:05 - Mar 19
Guthrum, you're correct. I keep saying 18, even though I know we only have 5 subs now. I have heard this may be changing back again though??? It is a good point you make though as if you take a sub keeper, you are left with 4 players to cover the park. 1 defence, 1 attack, 1/2 midfield/utility players. He may be involved Wed eve if Drury drops out.
