Andrews Out, Scotland a Doubt
Andrews Out, Scotland a Doubt
Thursday, 29th Dec 2011 12:59

Blues boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that midfielder Keith Andrews will miss the New Year’s Eve match at Reading with the hamstring injury he suffered at Leicester on Boxing Day. Striker Jason Scotland is a doubt, also with a hamstring problem, but is expected to be OK.

Jewell said: “Keith definitely won’t make Saturday and whether he’ll make Monday is also in doubt. With a hamstring you have to be careful. Jason Scotland has got a bit of a hamstring as well.

"Keith’s definitely out, Jason we think is going to be OK but everybody else at this moment in time is available.”

Andrews's half-season loan from Blackburn is up after Monday's home game against Nottingham Forest with Jewell keen to make the Irishman a permanent signing.

WTF is it with all these bloody hamstring injuries !!!!

Have we got an incompetent coaching staff at ITFC these days ?

they all shift one place on then.

Bullard to start.

I'd like to see Drury on the bench ahead of Leadboots. I do think Drury would be much better playing alongside either Bowyer or Bullard.

PJ will have known that Andrews is going back to Blackburn for some time. He also knew Collins would be returning and that Stockdale could be recalled at any time. So, putting all his eggs in one basket seems foolish. Then again, knowing this for so long means he must have a plan already in action .... clubs can sign players ready for 1 January so no doubt PJ has arranged this?

definitely should give drury a go.. at least on the bench (basically i agree with hampstead_blue) - he was unbeaten during his whole loan with crawley, hopefully he could be a lucky charm for us too??

fans are stupid,

i hope andrews is out for 6 weeks with his hamstring injury,

few clubs will want to buy him in Jan with a injury which makes us more likely to sign him, even if it is only another loan!

Ozzy_ITFC If there is a possibility that Andrews could be fit to face Forrest on Monday than he is hardly going to be out for 6 weeks. I agree that it would be nice to see Drury given a chance. Leadbitter is on his way out so lets give some of the players who want to be here a chance.

Two wins and a draw, I should be feeling happy that things are looking up at last, but the problem is I don't! I just know with this group of players minus Collins and Andrews it will go down hill again once more. I suspect this will happen as soon as Sonko pulls his hamstring again (bound to happen with two games in three days!)

Obviously we need Andrews and Collins to be signed permanently but I really hope that PJ is looking to the lower leagues for more 'Cresswell's'. Young, hungry and talented players seem to be able to make the step up from League One and in some cases League Two. Players like Matthew Lowton at Sheffield United, Kane Ferdinand at Southend and I dare I mention a young Scottish interntional who has scored 20 in 20 for Huddersfield this season???!!!

What is it with all these hamstring injuries? Most of our injuries this year have been of this kind, surely this should be sorted out during the more physical part of training, warming up and warming down? We are not blessed with speed within the team, so it cannot be put down to a sudden burst of pace causing these injuries?

darren cox. while i too think maybe drury should be ionvolved, you have totally contradicted yourself in your statement. in one sentence you say give drury a chance then in next you say give players who want to be here the chance. drury has clearly stated that he wants to sign for crawley. also the assumption that leadbitter is on his way out is purely based on rumour put on this messageboard by so called fans. while i dont think he should be captain, i do believe that, played in his best position, grant would get back to the kind of form he showed when he 1st came here, when frankly, he looked too good for us. yes, hes had a lean time this season(mainly from being asked to play as a winger), but hes basically still a good player. as for those people going on about all the hamstring injuries were suffering, thats how it goes. its a common injury in football. doubt theres a club anywhere in the world that doesnt have players out with this problem at some point in a season. to blame it on the coaching staff(retro blue), is totally ridiculous.

let,s have some perspective, Drury wants to leave and it is doubtful whether he would ever be good enough for Champ, although only 28 he is pretty slow, sell him if we can and try to sign Andrews, we need his goals from midfield.

Blues1 so called fans? Do you really beleive Leadbetter to be a really good player then? Which player have you been watching?

darren_cox added 15:48 - Dec 30
blues1 do you really believe that Drury would want to leave if he was told he had the chance to play and possibly get a run in the side? The reason he wants to leave us is because he believes he has no chance of featuring for us. I dont blame him for wanting out. Leadbitter can be a very good player on his day but those days are very rare. The reason I said he is on his way out is not based on what any other bloggers have said but on the fact that his contract expires in the summer and he has not signed the new one offered to him. I would be very surprised if Town offer him a better one now. Lets hope he can perform at Reading. COYB
