Lansbury Was Targeted
Lansbury Was Targeted
Wednesday, 7th Sep 2011 12:39

Blues boss Paul Jewell has revealed that Town targeted signing Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury on a permanent basis earlier in the summer. The 20-year-old former Scunthorpe, Watford and Norwich loanee ultimately joined West Ham on another loan spell last Wednesday, the final day of the transfer window.

Jewell said: “We went for the boy Lansbury in the summer and his agent wanted to see if he can give it a go at Arsenal.

“He was probably told late last Wednesday that he wouldn’t be in [Arsenal’s 25-man Premier League] squad. I understand that.

“If I was a player, I would want to give it every opportunity I could to play in the Premier League.”

Absolutely no point in Jewell constantly stating who we tried & failed to get. It doesn't get anyone anywhere.

Broomfield he was on the bench at scum most games, hardly backbone. I dont think we need another Forrest Gump in the team.

Dont forget scum were biding for him as well, so there was no chance of him coming here.

You might as well say we came close to signing Messi on loan for the season. I'm not interested in who we didn't get BFJ!!!

Oh what short memories people have. Remember Ian Crooke?

Once a scummer always a scummer!

If this had have been Roy - we would have heard how stupid he was for targetting unrealistic players. The difference here is? PJ would have been better targetting players who were available.

Makes me feel bit sick knowing what players we could of had here, this is exactly what we need young and hungry with pace and flair so we sign Bowyer instead!

Lansbury ? She could have helped out the local police solving a few crimes on her off days. Why we didn't sign her is indeed a mystery.

........... who really cares about who he is WAS interested in ? - all this talk about nothing again, and again, and again.

Actions ALWAYS speaks louder than words - and we should know that extremely well by now.

Paulc: "Once a scummer always a scummer!" - you mean like Joe Royle?

Paulc added 20:49 - Sep 8
No I mean like Ian Crooke, like I already said!

And yeah actually, can't really say I was ever very crazy about what I saw under royle, so.......
