Town Confirm Kiwomya's Exit
Town Confirm Kiwomya's Exit

Town have confirmed that reserves coach Chris Kiwomya has left Portman Road, as reported by TWTD last week. Kiwomya returned to the club where he had been a player in the summer of 2008.

Chief executive Simon Clegg said: "I can confirm that Chris has left the club on mutually agreed terms.

“I'd like to thank him for his outstanding contribution to Ipswich Town and wish him well for the future."

Kiwomya, who led his team to the Totesport.com Football Combination East Division title this season, added: "I have enjoyed my time at Ipswich Town and wish the club every success for the future. I hope they win promotion and get back in the Premier League where they belong."

Goalkeeper-coach James Hollman and fitness coach Simon Thadani are also on their way out of the club this summer.

Paul Jewell’s former Wigan keeper Mike Pollitt — who had a one-game loan spell at Portman Road in 2006 - is expected to take over from Hollman, while the Town boss wants one-time Blues striker David Lowe to join his coaching staff, although probably not as a reserve coach with Town’s second string playing only friendlies next season.

“I'd like to thank him for his outstanding contribution to Ipswich Town"

Well why is he leaving then? So much sincerity in that quote don't you think, how patronising can you get.

Thanks Chris and best of luck for the future in everything you do.Legend is thrown about a little to much when people talk about their clubs. Very good servants yes, legends no. Also why is it that so many people on this site live in the past, learn from history but live in the present.

Exactly, just a previous player, not a legend at all, and no surprise he has gone, Jewell realises just what a shambles this club is both on and off the field and is going to try to sort things out, I wish him luck as he will need it, the club has a long hard road to travel before we see any good times again.

People grow up with players, and due to the better times (92 promotion) would call him legend. Also amazed at what lengths people go to criticise clegg, what else is he going to say? Shame to see a former player leave, but in PJ we trust.

I am still worried about our Reserve team set-up for next season.
Mid-week friendlies are not really the answer. PJ himself said that the Reserves need Saturday games so that they have something to train for during the week.

Great shame but at least it seems to have been amicable enough. Good luck CK and well done for winning the league. Can't ask for much more.

Maybe it's down to the change of policy on reserve games, maybe Kiwomya has a better job lined up somewhere after his successes with the reserve team? There are all sorts of reasons why he and the club are parting ways, probably is perfectly amicable, if both sides are saying so.

And I'm sorry Lay, but no. We don't need our club staff packed out with ITFC old boys. We need the best possible group of people, the most talented coaches, tacticians and organisers, all working together to give the best possible preparation for our players - at all levels - to be successful. Irrespective of which clubs they may have played or worked at in the past.

Nonetheless, Kiwomya has been a good servant to Ipswich Town. Wish him every success for what he's doing in the future.

everyones missing the point here. This isnt about CK its really about our Reserve side now only playing friendlies. This is a disaster. If your not playing regular football, which means about 17 or 18 players in the club, there is no platform to improve your competiveness or skills. So how are we going to develop the next generation of players? With Cleggs previous record in acquiring players that add value to the club through the transfer market, and a number leaving this year, we have a real challenge creating a competitve side now and one into the future. What looked like the light at the end of the tunnel is actually just anser train coming.

cameltoe - part of Jewell's reason for the decision to switch to friendlies only was that, in his opinion, the standard of the Reserve League was too low. Several other clubs have taken the same route. If reserve teams were allowed to enter proper competitive leagues (or the FA organised it better), this switch wouldn't have happened.
