Spoke well about ITFC and McKenna on Sky yesterday.

He’s moved on from the hostilities it seems.

Shame some of our fans can’t.

What did he say when they told him McKenna was 7 points clear in 2nd with the 18th biggest budget?

I think there was only ever hostility towards a small section of the fanbase that he described as numbskulls. I think he has always been very realistic about the club and probably would have loved to have the off-field structure and backing that McKenna has now got. I am sure he wouldn't have us anything like as free-flowing as McKenna has but I also think, with proper backing, he would have had us more attacking and entertaining than he was forced to.

There is no way MM would have accepted the club structure as it is today nor is there any evidence to say he would have built a coaching staff in the shape we have now either.

Give mick MC the same budget as McKenna and we'd gone up

There was something horrifically poetic about Mick being in the stadium and reducing the swashbuckling, free flowing, top scorers Town to 90 minutes without a shot on target.

If there’s some kind of negative equivalent to “the cherry on top of the cake”, eg the guano on top of the cowpat, it was him getting paid to watch us having an atypical, uncharacteristically bad game :(

He was part of the disaster that hit us for 10 years. Lost thousands of fans. Worst finishing position in 50 years. Failed at everything since. What is there to like?

Our worst league finish in 50 years was under Paul Lambert mate.

You applauded us to relegation didn't you?

The Skuse Hyam Douglas midfield was something to behold.

Who?

He was the best manager of the Evans era, no questions asked. And, given the contest of the conditions he was asked to work under, arguably in the top 10 'best ever' Town managers.

Hope that helps jog your memory.

People forget we had literal gangsters arriving at the training ground to collect debts from players before Mick arrived. He then saved us from relegation, threatened playoffs, got into the playoffs, threatened playoffs again before the injuries took their toll and all the best players were sold with an ever decreasing budget. We’d have been League One for a decade had Mick not been appointed, he was literally keeping the ship afloat despite Evans best efforts to sink it.

His last season was the worst at that time.

How? He gave Hurst money (and a job) He gave Cook license to "demolish" the squad etc.

Just saying "Evans" when he was the same terrible owner before, during and after MM doesn't explain why it got so much worse does it?

We’d probably have been ok if Cook had been appointed after MM. We’d probably even have been ok if Lambert had followed MM. It was the damage that Hurst did to the squad that was almost impossible to recover from given the way Evans ran the club.
