In more than half of all games played in the Premier and EFL during the last 20 seasons, the total number of goals scored was lower than three.
If a team has just scored the opening goal of the game, they cannot lose unless the total reaches three, and then only if their opponents score two more goals they do.
Overall, in the last two decades of the Premier League and Football League, 68 per cent of the teams that scored first won, 21 per cent drew and 11 per cent lost. |  | | |  |
