Sunday lunch/dinner thread 16:26 - Jun 9 with 3437 viewsfooters

Haven't had one of these in a while, and what could be better than bonding over a nice bit of nosh?!

So TWTD, what's on your plate this dreary Sunday?

Two of my friends got engaged on Friday so the celebrations have continued all weekend here at the footers household. This evening I'm rustling up lambs steaks, pomme puree, mustard-ed leeks and roast garlic for the celebration congregation.

No afters planned though.

I had roast beef earlier. It was perfectly fine

Not many job opportunities in Lowestoft.

Where did you have your beef, young man? In a pub, restaurant or at home? There are some cracking roasts round these parts, but with some touching the £15 mark, not sure on the value for money.

On my tod today so this evening will be throwing the last of my pork mince in the wok with some reduced fat red pesto and watercress (it was going cheap in the Co-op and needs using up because I never looked up any proper watercress recipes - you should have seen the state of the instant mash/watercress puree I concocted last night). Conchiglie with olive oil to accompany it. A plum. A scotch pancake with butter and Mackay's ginger spread. Four squares of white chocolate. No alcohol. 'Inspector Montalbano' on the iPlayer.

And probably on here off an on as I check for emails in the hope that I don't have to repeat that tomorrow.

Pub near where I live out in the Irish sticks. Wouldn’t be a place I’d normally choose to eat but my grandaddy is over on his holibops and wanted to go in there. Beef was nice, as was the gravy (although there was a scarce amount of it) but the rest was rather disappointing I must say.

When I went to college up in Dublin there used to be a cracking carvery nearby that did a fantastic roast beef dinner. I despise Dublin but I do wish that carvery could be replicated in the places near me

My tenner's on you being stoned, pregnant or both...

Still waiting on the ladies' replies? Have to say all the proposals recently have made dear old footers feel a little unwanted!

You were at Trinity? I got accepted but declined in favour of London life.

Rural pubs like that are so hit and miss. Often hitting and missing on the same plate. Not too fussy generally but one thing I do insist on is homemade Yorkshire puddings. Those frozen ones are a soggy embarrassment. Disgrace to the sport, should hang up their boots, etc.

Trinity? Again I’m insulted. No I went to one of the thicko colleges close to trinity.

I didn’t get any Yorkshire pudding which is obviously out of order. They’re not particularly popular over here though which is a shame

There's hope for you I think Superblue95. Maybe I should pop to yours for mushroom season to teach you how the magic works that Footers has alluded too. Did you see my team just got a second goal.

Ps which part of the Emerald Isle are you now?

Edit....cheese on toast.

Your team? Sorry but I posted on the sweepstake thread first so if there’s an Audi on offer it shall be mine.

I’m a long way away in glorious Tipperary. I’ve a cousin a few doors down who loves his mushrooms and acid and the such. You and Footers should call over (invite open to the rest of you losers too) and we can have a party

Ah, I’m amazed I’ve not heard of this before. Horse and Jockey is less than 10 minutes from my house (and one of my best mates is from there) and I went to school in Thurles!

I know Thurles used to a cracking spot back in the day. The Feile festival that used to be held in the town was apparently incredible and used to attract people from all over and had some decent bands play too.

It’s a proper dump nowadays though
