And they are talking about Bill Werbyvebynnikk being a fanatical town fan. I knew all the talk of it but never realised he was quite so passionate.

Just read he was given an official Ipswich tie and he regularly wore it whilst playing on the tele.

RIP Bill.

The rumours were that he had to drink a dozen pints a day under doctors orders.

He was one of those that did, as did the great Alex Higgins.

He would love Mr John.

It’s a fantastic read, he would really appreciate it. If you can’t get a copy you can borrow mine.

I always thought it was due to him getting nervous and he couldn't handle playing under pressure without a belly full of lager.

IIRC he was prescribed beta blockers for a racing heart but they were added to the banned list so lager had the same reaction as it helped him relax.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Is Game Changers any good? Not got that one yet.

Just finished reading 'Winning Isn't Everything' the Sir Alf biography which was interesting. Anyone read it? There's a bit from when Sir Alf took over that resonates now...

In August 1955, few saw Ipswich Town as anything other than a small town club with small town ambitions. They were there to entertain the footballing folk of Suffolk, have a Cup run now and again but satisfy themselves with a place in the lower divisions. Existing on gates typically around the 13,000 mark, there was little money to spend.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. A fast paced and very direct style of writing. Gave me goosebumps at times.

Yes, it is. Not a long book, reads more like long-from journalism but that's not a fault as it gets the story across well.

Pretty sure it stemmed from playing in the Tolly Cobbold classic (a former ranking comp) held at the Corn Exchange and Bill met some of the players.

A lovely guy by all accounts. RIP indeed.
