2030 World Cup 16:48 - Oct 4 with 1039 viewsTractorCam

Set to be staged in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Whilst the first three matches will be held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to commemorate 100 years of the tournament. All six nations will automatically qualify.

With an expanded 48-team tournament, I would assume that at least five of those six would qualify regardless?

Probably, but I don't like the trajectory we're going on with constant multi hosting countries.

Why on earth not. It's simply not financially viable for a single country to host now, same with the Olympics.

I've no issue with the multiple hosts facet of things, but if it gets to a point where we've got multiple nations that wouldn't otherwise have a sniff of qualification, then that'll be something different entirely.

Can't see that format being very environmentally friendly. Unless we have battery powered planes by 2030.

Why not have 32 teams/ nations hosting each competition, ie those who have qualified. Get to play across the world helping to destroy the planet, and the final can be a two legged affair at both of the qualifying nations countries

It’s a way to placate UEFA etc to support a Saudi bid for the 2034 World Cup.

I think the Qatar world cup gave an indication as to the extent to which FIFA is environmentally friendly.
