He was some player, especially on those terrible pitches.

One pitch, about half-way through the clip, looked more like a hippopotomus' playground than a professional league football pitch!

I think he scored the last goals of his career against us at Portman Road, in a bizarre 6-2 win for Derby.

RIP

He was a very good player, second best of the three big names in that Man City side - Colin Bell being the best imo.

I seem to recall he bought out Peter Swales at Man City and we were the first opponents 'under him' at Maine Road. There was definitely a big thing made of it at the time.

Don't remember him as a player but I think he surprised the renowned hard-man Norman Hunter here. One of the most 70's things ever to happen on a football pitch.

Nowadays, when you only have to raise your hands a bit to get a red card, I'm always hoping someone will just go full Franny.

Oops, in thread mode, so didn't initially notice it had already been posted, but its such a good clip it deserves a double post.

Could have done without the overbearing music but that video does remind you of what a spirited player he was. Perhaps more than a few similarities to Gatesy ?

Classic Franny moment made even more legendary by Barry Davies' iconic commentary.

Francis Lee's legendary Match of the Day moment with goal for Derby County against Manchester City - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/66988317

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Some say "spirited", I say nasty - he did his best to break Bryan Hamilton's nose with his elbow, after a sneaky look round to make sure ref wasn't looking. All while waiting for a throw in.

His first game as chairman of Man City was against us after a protracted takeover.

We went 1-0 up with a Marshall goal early on, but they game flying back at us and won 2-1.

The Kippax Stand was deafening that day - in terms of how loud I've heard a home crowd as an away fan, that's in the top two, along with West Ham in the POs in 2004.

So called hard man Hunter took him with a sneaky sucker punch. They probably taught that at Leeds in training.
10 out of 10 for me because he wasn’t going to take that and took him on even though he was about a foot shorter.

Wow, that's a memory I didn't know I had. No idea where I know the song from, but that chorus is in there somewhere
