I would expect him to say " This job is beyond my abilities so therefore I am resigning with immediate effect taking deputy doig with me " ! Unfortunately the man has not got the honesty to admit he is way out of his depth but thought he could wing it with a selection of his old mates . My thoughts are with Bart , who signed a new contract , before being presented with a bunch of new team mates having expected to still have players like Waghorn , Garner and Webster as the foundations of a decent squad . Instead he is faced with a bunch of lower league players of dubious quality signed by a novice manager ! | | | |

He comes across as trying to desperately cover up the fact that he is increasingly overwhelmed and terrified.
He's bitten off more than he can chew and no mistake.
I have some sympathy - I don't think luck has been on his side, but then again his transfer dealings and whirlwind approach are telling there own story now. He gambled and IMO he's on the verge of losing everything. His best hope is to tell ME he needs help and fast and hope to God that we can quickly find a suitable Director of Football to guide him. Otherwise he's doomed and we go down with him.
On a separate note, where are Milne's words of wisdom these days? He's been strangely quiet in all this. Normally he manages to chirp up that he doesn't know anything but he's still in charge of ensuring a constant supply of [cheap] tea and coffee to the ticket office staff or some such. I kind of miss his uninformed yet self important burbling in the background.
