He didn't play again until Rotherham the other week... And we've still only lost twice in all the games that Bishop and McGoldrick have started together.

He was average at best in all of those games imo asides from Sheffield Wednesday away where I remember saying in my match report that it was like the old bish. And to be fair I wasn't at Wolves away so I can't judge on that one.

At Wolves Douglas was our standout midfield player-that should go down well.
Bishop's starts this season on 11:50 - May 4 with 2195 views | NeverTellMeTheOdds | Decent stats for a player that has had such an injury blighted season. Hoping he can have a really good pre-season, get himself fit and he really should be looking to nail down a first team place in our midfield next season IMO. Out of contract in 2018, if he starts the season well then hope the club are looking to tie him down to a longer contract ASAP.

Average at best is still better than Douglas though no? And there's improvement in Bishop (he's 20ish), there's no improvement in Douglas - in fact the opposite is true. I just find it strange that McGoldrick's given 10+ matches to get in his "pomp", whilst Bishop gets dropped after victories. Both players when fit and in form are equally important.

Agree that if all those things happen, great. The Teddy Bishop from two years ago would be a great asset,if that version ever re-appears.
Bishop's starts this season on 11:55 - May 4 with 2166 views | Dennyx4 | Stats can be quite meaningless sometimes. Bishop was substituted at half time in the first game of the season (Barnsley), making way for Ward who scored a hat-trick to get us the win. so can see why he would be dropped after that one.
Bishop's starts this season on 11:59 - May 4 with 2139 views | TrumptonBlue | On the other hand, in the 629 minutes Bishop has played in the league this season, Town have scored 3 and conceded 7, giving him a personal goal average of 0.43, which is the 27th best out of the 32 players to have appeared in the Championship this season. Among the games you mention... Barnsley H - withdrawn at half-time with the score 0-0. Rotherham H - withdrawn on 66 mins with the score 1-2 Sheff Wed A - withdrawn on 70 mins with the score 1-1 I like Bishop but there's no escaping the fact that he hasn't had much of an impact this season, not helped by his injury problems, of course.

Fair enough. I don't know what he did so wrong against Forest that everyone else was so quickly forgiven for though. Maybe he was playing right midfield and wasn't helping his fullback... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Will all come down to injuries I guess, it takes a while to get over some injuries and he seems to have had one thing after another this season. Often one injury will lead on to another, and he has been out for so long that when he has been put into the first team he has hardly been match fit so its harsh to judge him on what we have seen this season IMO. Hence why I think those stats are fairly decent. The talent is definitely still there, Bish just needs to stay injury free and get his head down in pre-season and I think he could be a decent player for us next season. Liking the thought of Bishop and Huws in our midfield together if we can make it happen next season :)

It's a pity from any angle, especially as he was decent in his games at the end of last season. A clean slate in the summer though and hopefully the injuries are behind him.

He's trying to show that we are better when Bishop plays but because Bishop has played so few games this season it's pretty irrelevant.

Bishop's starts this season on 12:50 - May 4 with 1892 views | Stenvict | In Teddy Bishop's last game away to Rotherham, it was genuinely one of the worst performances I've seen from a player this season. He kept losing the ball and was very weak. Of course, you didn't see that game so you wouldn't know.

I'm not quite sure the footy ones would be that high. Also, there doesn't seem to be any sign of ones about beer, or are they lumped in with food?

You are right but the OP was trying to use the (at the time) quite good result to back up his pro Bishop argument-I just pointed out that Douglas was better than him that night.
Bishop's starts this season on 12:53 - May 4 with 1854 views | itfcjoe | Against brentford he was booked, taken off at half time and been poor and his replacement came on and scored a hat trick - not sure that is a particularly harsh dropping Against Sheffield Wedensday we looked better by all accounts and scored the winner after he went off Against Wolves he was only in to give Ward a rest by looks of things. And at Rotherham at end of season, he was outperformed by Dozzell who got ahead of him and on bench for Sheff Weds game. He's in real danger of falling behind Benyu in pecking order too, he needs a big pre season and to make that narrow right midfield role his own as I think that suits him in a 3

In fairness I think our medical team needs looking at. The amount of players who recover & then get injured again is remarkable.

Quite possibly, it does seem to happen with Bishop and McGoldrick a lot. That said, it can't be that bad considering the likes of Chambers and Berra have hardly missed a minute all season. So in terms of strength and conditioning (and the like) we must be half decent at it.
