As a drummer, I don't usually go in for the fretboard w*nking but I've just seen this thread after walking in from Mr Big's first UK show this year. Wow.

As stated you opened the expected can of worms...
It is possible to separate and appreciate a guitarist chops as you say...especially when their formative work was the foundations for their legendary status.
However this crass response was anticipated.
