Leeds and Norwich online reaction to it going 3-3 23:46 - Feb 20 with 9473 viewsIllinoisblue

On the ITFC twitter account. And on WOTB. Sensationally good reading. You love to see it albeit it wasn’t very funny at the time.

Leicester and saints forums are good reading too. Saints fans seem resigned to the playoffs and some Leicester fans are wobbling too.

Leicester fans are a comical lot. Every time we are mentioned on there, a comment about us scoring in injury time, getting deflected goals etc is never far behind.

Bemoaning us scoring in injury time tonight forgetting that if not for injury time, we would've won 3-2 instead of 4-3.

These massive clubs fans getting salty over us hijacking their promotion rampages provide me with a lot of humour. Lucky Ipswich. Yeah 69 points from 33. All luck.

The owners of those clubs must look at KM and think ‘Jesus Christ, think what he’d do with our expensive squad!’

If he takes us up his stock would be incredible

Very generous with the 'massive' tag! They had a magical decade and now have all the infrastructure in place, fair play, but I still see Leicester and Southampton as closer to us than they are to the big'uns.

I don't see them as massive. Just how they are viewed in the context of us being up there with them this year by some of their own fans and the general media.

The 'Good on 'em', 'Would be nice to see them do it' comments from earlier this season are starting to dissipate the longer it continues to be a possibility as we hurtle towards March.

Same with Leeds imo. They were massive when Ipswich were massive, which is to say decades ago, before I and many others were even born.

Vastly overrated club and fanbase, talk of their greatness is entirely self declared. Imagine thinking you’re god’s gift to football and then just being Millwall with a funny accent and a strong smell of Bisto.

To be fair the Southampton fans both online and offline are by large a decent bunch. Leicester mainly a few on their forums calling us forever lucky, their fans seem OK in real life. Its the Leeds and Nodge bunch that are a joke both online and in real life.

I got messages from four Leeds fans when Rotherham scored.

Two of them replied post game saying we should be docked points for *checks notes* knowing the rules and making a sixth sub.

The contrast in attitudes between our promotion rivals is really interesting. Southampton fans are generally quite complimentary towards us whereas Leeds fans are, well… Leeds fans.

Leeds, when in comparison to the population of the actual city and surrounding area, is a poorly supported club.

Will die on this hill.

Is it 900,000 in Leeds? One club city. Biggest city in England to have one club.

Getting about 10% more at home than some towns that have a quarter of their population and two teams.

They really should be getting 45,000 or 50,000. Their support is comparatively rubbish. But they go on about how massive they are and how impressive their support is.

Permission to join you on that hill? Think the population is of Leeds is 750k but what with Wakefield right on its doorstep they should be getting at least 70k.

Wakefield is the clue - big Rugby League area, so sports fanbase in the area has always been divided between the 2 sports.

Rugby league really isn't a draw away from football. Wakefield averaged about 4,000 attendance last season. Even Leeds Rhinos barely get into five figures.

Leeds's support really is not great at all for a one-club city of that size. Average home crowds have been well below 30,000 for most of the last 20 years.

Granted - but it still has a population of over 300k. You would expect a fair few people to go to into Leeds to watch them. Especially as it’s so close.

It's not something you can judge solely on attendances, it's a cultural thing; there are 11-12 Rugby League clubs on the doorstep of Leeds, Rugby League is played in schools in the area, and there will be the armchair sports fans. There are tens of thousands of people who are just going to prefer following that sport to football.

No need for anyone to die on that hill, because the stadium capacity is c. 37k, so the entire argument is bollox.

If the size of the fanbase demanded a bigger stadium, it would have been built - even if that meant leaving Elland Road.
