This from PMQs, and Sunak was cheered by his own side.
Starmer praises the bravery of Brianna Ghey’s mother, and says she is in the gallery today.
Sunak says Starmer has broken almost all his promises. He says he has counted 30. He lists some of them, including on the difference between a man and a woman, although that is only a 99% U-turn, he says.
Starmer condemns Sunak for making jibe about trans people with Brianna Ghey's mother watching PMQs from gallery
Starmer says, of all the weeks, this was not the time for Sunak to make that jibe about trans people, especially with Brianna Ghey’s mother in the gallery.
He says, as PM, it is Sunak’s job to ensure all people in this country feel safe.
UPDATE: Starmer said:
Of all the weeks to say that, when Brianna’s mother is in this chamber. Shame.
Parading as a man of integrity when he’s got absolutely no responsibility.”
I think the role of the prime minister is to ensure that every single citizen in this country feels safe and respected, it’s a shame that the prime minister doesn’t share that

I’m not interested in hearing apologies from weedy nobody Sunak and his appalling mugs. They don’t mean it so any apologising for the deaths, chaos, poverty and misery they’ve caused in the last 14 years is total hypocrisy. They absolutely love it, have personally benefitted enormously so should be proud to talk about their ……achievements …….for themselves and their mates.
But yes, he’s a coward and a scumbag. Nasty one at that

it wasn't actually a transphobic joke. it was a swing at starmer for making u turns - a swing that missed so badly that he hit himself. but how about we demonstrate the sensitivity and decency that sunak lacks and not use this particular tragic context to re-hash the trans debate?
'LOL you don't what a woman is' IS kind of a joke. Just one that's even crapper than one of mine.

What's actually wrong with insisting that the PRIME MINISTER doesn't make transphobic jokes in front of the parents of trans kids? Or, god forbid, that he apologise for it?

Never forget the cruelty is deliberate and calculated. And when they’re not lying, they’re stealing.
EXCLUSIVE: Leaked emails reveal Tory peer Michelle Mone assured the government she was not entitled to “any financial benefit whatsoever” from PPE Medpro;
Five months later £29m of its profits were transferred into a trust benefitting her and children.https://t.co/rLCMgGfteI

Very low of Starmer to drag the poor mother into it. His comedy lawyer routine is awful.
Apologies for being very simplistic but here goes a very basic timeline of events.
1. KS pays tribute to the mum of Brianna Ghey 2. The PM - a position which needs dignity and respect - takes the piss and in so doing so spits over her memory. 3. KS flabbergasted by the remark. 4. PM and his mates thinks it’s a great laugh.
KS didn’t bring anyone into it, the lack of dignity and crass behaviour of the PM is the reason why this is a story.
It’s not about party politics and it’s not about being right or left or in the middle. It’s about having dignity and respect. Shame on the PM and shame on you.

My word, Starmer was the first leader of the opposition to do a joke at PMQ’s. Crikey you learn something everyday here.
It’s a bit of a shame that some minorities have grown to be accepted and have more respect in the wider community, such a shame for the Tories, that are running out of targets to punch down on.
Pray for Matteo, his options for enjoying humour directed at individuals that are bullied just for being who they are, are dwindling.

Interesting priorities for Matteo there. Open bigotry is OK, but jokes about the PM's well documented incompetence, bigotry and corruption is a step too far.
