Bumped into James Collins in a pub in the city today. Nice bloke. I said he was an Ipswich legend and he said he didn't get called that often.
Joking aside, what was that game where he was absolutely epic. I think we won 1-0 in the season we got relegated. Think he got injured after that and retired shortly after. Shame as could have become a bit of a cult legend for us if he stayed fit. [Post edited 14 Nov 2023 20:56]

The way we defended that day, mainly down to Collins, was incredible.
Not many times before had I wanted us not to concede so badly. If I remember right they absolutely bombarded our box in the second half. |  |

The Championship was very poor that season, which is why we weren’t confirmed as relegated for an age. Lambert got it very wrong, rather than play for points and climbing out slowly he actually made us more vulnerable and we sank like a stone. However, Evans provided a "war chest" according to the papers which included signing the unfit and injured Collins, Keane, Quaner and another defender on loan who was awful, as it James Bree? Only Evans could appoint an ex Norwich boss to relegate us, he was tone deaf… |  | | |
