What do the player of match stats tell us? 09:23 - Sep 3 with 539 viewsChocorange

So far this season, we have scored 15 in 7 games and as pointed out elsewhere , we are on track for 100 league goals again.

We have also conceded 8 in the last 3 games. ( three clean sheets in the games before that were more expected winners from defenders)

Yet none of the player of the match’s chosen are any of the more attacking players.

Defensive bias ? keeper bias? Players doin better than expected when coming into the team?
Player bias?

Or a blasé attitude to how well our attacking players do game in game out?

For example , what more could Freddie do yesterday ? 2 goals in the time he was on the pitch. Hutchison also much improved in last 2 games.

Player Bias

Burns has done literally nothing with the ball in the last few games yet is praised as having good games.

Morsy being given 8/10s despite having some terrible 45 minutes etc. Similar to points last season.

But that's to be expected people have their favourites.

Waka waka eh eh

This may sound odd but I think this season out forward players are less in the game except for scoring. Broadhead was basically non-existent and even struggling to a point before his goal. Chaplin was having a quiet game. Ladapo's first touch often saw the ball bounce off him. Burns was probably our most consistent performer yesterday but ignored more often than not when he could have been played in.

For those reasons I can see why Hladky got man of the match on here though, at the same time, appreciate why others rate Ladapo higher.
