You do understand what KM wants from his lone striker, right?

Would be decent cover for all the forward positions although not the type of signing we generally make under McKenna.

Sounds like a lazy link to Ashton

Always thought he was a really technically good footballer.

Wouldn’t be a number 9 recruit, would operate in one of the Broadhead/Chaplin roles.

Don’t know if there is any legs in the link, but would be an upgrade on Harness, Hutchinson.

Would be a very underwhelming signing. Wrong side of 30 and didn’t score a league goal last year.

Seen a few comments to suggest it’s West Brom who are in for him. Fingers crossed it’s them.

I don't think Wally is entirely wrong on that. Perhaps not the be-all and end-all of a KM striker, but like Hirst and Ladapo last season, we want a decent return of goals as well as the hold up play and other stuff. Whoever's in that role needs to be able to take chances when on offer.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Yeah, he’s absolutely not a forward. I know that’s become an increasingly blurred term, but the Broadhead/Harness role is the best comparison. Effectively a wide number 10, but without the in-box poaching and finishing aptitude that Chaplin has.

Pretty underwhelming, but I suppose we have to be realistic with who we can afford. He looked a real handful when he first joined Swansea, then threw his toys out of the pram when he was refused an upgraded contract and has been crap and rarely present ever since (for the last 18 months). I think he would be an upgrade on Harness, but there’s no way he’d be forcing Broady or Chappers out of the team. Seems a strength in depth type of signing. I’d worry a bit about his attitude (or his agent’s).

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?
