...that at times we need it in our locker to go with a conventional 2 up top?

Given to understand all the work in training concentrates on having 1, with a lot of work for that 1 to do. It’s a technically and tactically demanding system on the forwards. I suppose we might see more like 442 if we are behind late in a must win game.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

I think we have the personnel now. To be fair to KM I think he's wanted to get his best players on the pitch, and given our forward options are where we've arguably been weakest, it's made the most sense to sacrifice one and start with 3 of Harness, Aluko, Chaplin and Burns more often than not. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we see a change of system, especially during games.

I am pretty certain we would get even more from Ladapo if we did/could.

Hope not. The style and system we play is working well and getting better.

I just think we need a plan B if the usual set up isn’t working. Whether that’s 2 up top or a different approach. It’s my only very minor criticism of the way we currently play. We seem to run out of ideas if we don’t break a team down

No.

We play with four attacking players, who line up and set up differently based on the opposition or the stage of the game.

Not at the start of games, when we need to score later in games I can see one of Burgess / JD / (even) Morsy making way for an extra forward / attacking player.

I think you should be the manager. KM has lost it.

Good post.
Makes sense that KM would want to start matches strongly and try to force the other team to change their shape to cope.
I have sometimes been puzzled at the selection when the team sheet has been announced. I've always assumed that someone's got a knock that we don't know about.
Personally, I prefer 2 up front and hanker after the striker partnerships that we've had in the past.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

We now have 3 quality strikers, and 2 up top could be used if required.

Absolutely not. The system we play means at any one time we have 4 players ‘up field’, and that’s before you add Morsy or Humphrey’s (when he was playing) going from box to box

I’m not sure McKenna is going to undo 13 months worth of work on the training ground to appease the fans by playing 2 up top.

No, we have 3 forwards already and the system works
