Is Mr Offside the answer? 20:00 - Jan 4 with 2420 views | homer_123 | Joking aside, we know how much he loves the club but does he fit the KM mould? I'm not sure he would be the answer to pur striker issue. Love his desire and commitment and he most definitely can perform at this level. I think, however, to get the best from him, KM would need to change our approach and I don't think that would be a good thing right now.

Is Mr Offside the answer? on 20:03 - Jan 4 with 2380 views | J2BLUE | I would be very surprised if we aren't getting Wickham. He just seems to tick the boxes if he's fit. Even if he was fit enough for half of the remaining games it seems a no brainer.

Is Mr Offside the answer? on 20:05 - Jan 4 with 2356 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I am certain we will look for players to suit our style rather than change our style to suit a collection of players. And it is far better than sticking with a style that doesn't suit the players we randomly sign which was happening not so long ago.

Yep...said back in Dec he is the only logical option for us.

We get so much right. I'd hate for KM to start tinkering with our approach. As much as I like Bonne. He's not what we need right now...IMO.

But Bonne wouldn't want to be a sub/squad player in L1. Besides...he isn't the right player for us with our style of play.

What about just as an additional option? Perhaps not THE striker signing but one for the bench? Probably the only way that could happen is if he says give me 6 months on £2k a week or similar and we take the punt but would you do it?

We def need a striking option with Cats nephew out for sure. Bonne won't be cheap. Of the two if it were between Wickham and Bonne you'd choose Wickham with the way we play.

We can only sign 3 over 21 players this window if we don’t sell anyone, not sure Bonne would be the best use.

Unfortunately imo j2. We've left ourselves a bit of a problem squad size wise up top. We already have 2 x back up strikers in Jackson and ahadme. If we had bonne. That's 3 strikers for the bench let alone when JJ gets fit again too. Plus you'd imagine a main new striker. With ladapo already there.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ahadme go out on loan. I think we might be quite ruthless this window as this half season is huge.

I don't think he can unless it's back to Burton? We could maybe see Jackson go if someone's after him. I know KM likes him. But he's not one who can step up with us.

That would be harsh...from the little I've seen (given the minutes he's played) Ahadme looks more than useful as a option. That said...you might be right...he needs game tine doesn't he.

Not certain he's right for us. But to be honest, he has been deemed surplus to squad requirements by a mid table championship club. Do you really think he would consider himself above being a squad player at a tope league one club (whom he supported as a boy and played for recently)?

Is Mr Offside the answer? on 20:59 - Jan 4 with 1935 views | Help | I think we can possibly shift a few players we don't want from the declared list and this will allow us to pick a few more players. Once we get the top ones down the spine of the team in, I think pay as you play Bonne, Wickham, (Rhodes)?, and put some pressure on Ladapo and Jackson. Maybe if they don't work nothing lost. However, if they start scoring then the real pressure goes on the exiting strikers to up their game.

With respect we need quality and players we can trust to help us get us promoted Bonne is a blue. But he's not that player. And wickham, we just don't know how many games we are gonna get. It's potentially a waste of a squad space. If with our resources we go that route. I'd be highly disappointed and concerned at how the club sees as ambitious. The Taylor link is the sort of link that shows a bit of intent and planning.

Do we need a plan B? Genuine question. For me...we are more than good enough at creating genuine scoring opportunities against any team in this division. KM has us focusing on playing our way and getting opponents to worry about us. The only thing we are guilty of at the moment is not converting quite enough of the chances we create. We kept going against Pompey and didn't revert to long ball and got a reward. A plan B is no bad thing but Bonne would be a very expensive Plan B IMO and one that would require a seismic shift in approach to get the best out of him. I love him...but not for me...right now.

Wickham is a far more logical choice than Bonne though. At an age where a short term contract suits both parties but moreover suits the style and approach that KM wants. Right now...in Jan...we need a player to hit the ground running. Wickham, as a striker, is far more likely to do that right now than Bonne or a young loanee. Wickham would be a logical short term signing as we've ever seen.

I would suggest that would depend entirely on what else his agent can get him. I wouldn't be too surprised for him to be without a club after January 31st and then sign for a club that suddenly decides they have the need for him for whatever reason. Having his contract cancelled now leaves him with that flexibility.

I agree with this. Personally I'm of the mould of don't go back go forward. Unless it's blindingly obvious of what an ex-player would bring to the team ala Wark. Any player we invest in we will have an eye on them being part of a potential championship team. I.e. Leif Not sure Bonne and Wickham fit our vision as this point, even if my heart would love to see them back. The Everton forward would be more in line with our owners aspirations imho.

Yet McKenna has historically preferred Jackson to Bonne who he clearly didn't fancy after 6 months of long at him. It's interesting that our fans trust McKenna on virtually everything except his judgement of Bonne. I'm really hoping we are aiming higher than Bonne. He did well for half a season but he's scored something like 4 in 44 for QPR. SB

That is funny, but sadly does reflect the few (well 2) QPR fans I know who also say 'if only Bonne could stay onside he might become a decent striker"
