January transfer wishlist 10:14 - Dec 31 with 5429 viewsLegendofthePhoenix

1) Morgan Whittaker
2) Mark McGuinness
3) Aaron Collins
4) Michael Cooper

Now if we got that 4, THAT would be a statement
Would free up Woolfie as holding midfield backup.

Outgoings:
Ahadme on loan
De-register Ball for season
Jackson (sell)
Hladky (sell)

Is that the same Mark McGuiness who’s 2nd touch whilst he was here was always a tackle?

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

he is getting consistent rave reviews at Weds. Our biggest weakness is that we ship goals too easily. He was only 20 I think when he was here, and would also benefit from our coaching. And seriously hurt Wednesday.

To be honest, i think Burgess and Wolfenden aren't the problem. It's out wing backs Davis and Burns who have been isolated at the back post. Wouldn't say no to McGuiness though, as i think he has all the tools to be a good commanding centre back. I just doubt he'd be able to dislodge Burgess and Woolfie will always play given his ability to play out from the back.

Would take Whittaker from that lot. We don't need McGuiness so makes no sense as we'll have to keep to wage rules. Same for Cooper. Good keeper but pointless signing as won't play and Hladky is good understudy.

Aaron Collins is ok, but has had half a season in L1. I expect us to be in the market for a higher pedigree.

Down votes are harsh as it's just your opinion!

I'd go Whittaker
Matete (perm) or Luongo (6 months deal)
Taylor
Keane (don't think possible)/Evan Ferguson

You wouldn't be signing Cooper as an understudy, he's miles above Walton this season, younger and has long term potential. Can't see it being us getting him in anyway, he'll be off to the champ.

As he has already played for two sides this season, Ahadme can't go on loan to anyone except back to Burton. And I'm not sure they could pay his wages anymore.

Don't you think he could play a Dom ball role if called upon? When injuries bite, I could see him doing a decent job there. It's my opinion.

I wouldn't swap Walton for anyone in this league. He's been outstanding for us. (A couple of mistakes and suddenly people questioning him recently is silly). He is a top draw championship keeper with Prem potential. Cooper is quality. Point is we don't need him. There are wage caps in this division an the focus needs to be to spend the wages where we need them.

Don't get me wrong having Cooper and Walton would be ridiculous at our level. But you can't keep them both happy and we don't need them both.

you don't become 5th choice keeper in the champ if you are of prem pedigree. Walton is quite low on saves made to shots etc, and he's distribution is very ropey.

He's an ok keeper, better than Holy, better than Hladky, but he's not the amazing keeper people make out imo.

Frimmers the blokes got 9 clean sheets in 24 games

He’s the best keeper we’ve had for a long while

His distribution is fine imho and his shot stopping (for the most ) has been incredible.

Some of the early season saves he was making saved / won many a game

Commands his box very well too

We'll have to agree to disagree, apart from the first part of course as he's part of the team that has done so.

I did say he's better than our previous keeper and is better than our current back up.

Also, I wouldn't be going out making it a priority to sign a keeper. BUT I was replying to the poster who said he wouldn't swap walton for Cooper and saying Walton was a top champ/prem keeper. IMO he's not.

I would imagine any signings will be complete curve balls. The players that form the backbone of our squad joined completely out of the blue, likes of our skipper, Evans, Chaplin, Harness, Aluko etc etc

well he was hardly first choice at brighton when he was farmed out on loan for 6 years.
he had 2 seasons out on loan in the championship, once finishing 11th and the other with wigan finishing above the relegation zone.

The other seasons were as emergency keeper at brighton or league 2 and 1 loans.

So no, i don't see him suddenly being a top championship keeper with premier pedigree.

Burns is the worst defending player at the club, costs us a few goals, lightweight fouls, poor positioning, and always seem to get in donaciens way rendering him out of position,

oh no, he was first choice of a champ club who went on loan for 6 years. sorry.
and 1 of 11 goalkeepers over the time he was contracted.

For someone of top champ/prem quality, that's alot of keepers to go through when you have someone already on your books.
