On the remote chance that labour had won the election...

I wonder what noises Comrade Corbyn would be making to the Russians over their illegal invasion of Ukraine.

He would probably side with them and wish them well.

Russia of course are just as closely aligned to the Tory Party given various donations etc

Corbyn was weak on defence, that was definitely the weaker point of his leadership and certainly a contributing factor to him not winning

What must not be forgotten is he was actually pretty popular with the under 45's, there's a massive divide in this country politically across age

Whatever Stop The War are saying, Corbyn will say the same.

So basically it's all the fault of NATO.

I'll go for about five pages before the thread gets pulled....

Given Seumus Milne's consistent Putin-apologism and the instinctive anti-Western views of the one-time Dear Leader then I imagine we would be seeing government statements along the same lines as the 'both-siding' and blaming of NATO emanating from Corbyn & Abbott over the last week.

The 2019 election was a truly dreadful choice between two men unfit, each for a multitude of reasons, to be Prime Minister. At least the Labour Party is rectifying that now, the Tories rather less so.

Now you mention it, yes. I think Stop The War released a statement saying pretty much that! NATO aggression has brought about the Ukraine crisis.

Signed of course by Jeremy and fellow commie Dianne Abbott

Britain's position is aligned with NATO , the EU and the US in that we have been pursuing a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

The aggressor is purely Russia.

How can you possibly say we haven't been anti foreign war in this situation?

Just another ridiculous smear.

The idea that Corbyn has any affinity to an authoritarian despot who throws his military weight around is pure fantasy for the hard of thinking. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of you about. 😀

You don’t seem to be able to entertain the idea that Putin, China etc are wrong but so are we too frequently.

We are also pretty committed to protecting and extending our spheres of influence at the expense of ordinary people’s lives. And our hypocritical alliances with Saudi Arabia, Israel or whatever regime is favourable to us around the world does us zero credit.

How do you rate the success/failure of our interventions around the world over the past couple of decades?

Enough of us to ensure that a traitor like Corbyn would never get into a real position of power yes.

This is pure whataboutism though, it has nothing to do with the situation in Ukraine. What Russia is doing in Ukraine right now is wrong and we would be right to sanction them for trying for quite literally invading a country.

If it was us doing something similar I'd be furious. Putin's reasoning given last night was shockingly similar to Hitler's reasoning for taking the Sudentenland, and I'm not exaggerating there.

We can be wrong about things and so can they. The default of "west wrong" is no better than "west right".

I think it's testimony to how unpalatable to the electorate Jeremy Corbyn was that he was comprehensively beaten by Boris Johnson.

I'd have left the country and gone into exile.

It was also shockingly similar to the “reasons” for us going into Iraq, Afghanistan or bombing Libya. We don’t have much of a leg to stand on.

But of course we should try to bring sanctions. I’m talking about the militarization surrounding Ukraine on both sides that hasn’t suddenly become a thing in 2022.

Based on silly smears like yours and a Brexit fantasy.

We should try living in the real world for once – then maybe we’d see politicians and policies addressing the real issues affecting the UK and the world.
