Half Man Half Biscuit 21:31 - Feb 10 with 1547 viewsbenrhyddingblue

Came across this as part of my New Year's resolutions (prompted by news in November that my best mate has terminal cancer) to listen to at least one album a day that I've never listened to before, among other things that I realise I need to do as life actually isn't infinite.

A bit hit and miss but worth sticking till the end, if you've never heard it before. Been listening to HMHB a lot of late, as they can always raise a smile.

Probably the only time Zondervan and Zidane are ever mentioned in the same breath.

HMHB came up on shuffle when I was driving tonight - National Sh1te Day.

There's a man with a mullet going mad with a mallet in Millets.

Great line, and a great band. Think my favourite line is about the subbuteo goalkeeper

A goalkeeper with no arms and a face like his

Looking forward to seeing them at Rock City next month. New album comes out next week and has a track called In a Suffolk Ditch.
Our own Chris Rand has the details:

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Didn't know that, just had look but all their gigs are on Fridays, which means I can't go for various reasons. Ironic, given the only time I had a ticket to see them in the early 90s it was a Friday and we got to the door of the Mean Fiddler to be told it was cancelled because Tranmere were playing at home.

Not heard them since their first couple of DHSS albums. First heard them thanks to the legendary John Peel.

Some great songs on those first 2 albums. Len Ganley Stance, F**ckin ell It's Fred Titmus, etc.

Has their stuff remained as good over the years?

Elite Poster. TWTD Hottest Poster (1999, 2000, 2001).

Absolutely, the last album was a banger.

Well worth a listen

Their social commentary is spot on and the wit and references are as obscure and funny as ever. Tending the Wrong Grave for 23 Years is a fantastic example.

Every time a bell rings & What made Columbia famous are my favourites on that album

Knobheads on quiz shows is a great take on Pointless too

National Sh*te Day is a proper song

Have seen them numerous times, have all the albums - a band whose quality only improves with age IMHO....

Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?

I bought their album "Trouble over Bridgewater" purely because I love the name
