I'd guess either Westerfield way (head through Tuddenham to the training ground, and 5 minutes to PR down Valley Rd if he goes at 7am) or Bucklesham Rd (cut through Foxhall to training ground, and straight down Felixstowe Rd and Fore Hamlet to PR).
A lot of footballers back in the 00s had places along Bucklesham Rd near the golf club.
No idea if 5 minutes is feasible as it's been 15 years since I last lived in Ipswich - but when I lived in Kesgrave I could be at Ipswich train station in 7-8 minutes (at 6am). | | | |

I have checked the local waterways and it looks extremely difficult to complete the journey by pedalo without having to walk the last 637 yards.
