Chambo's got a lot of heart, and was a decent enough Championship centre half once upon a time. Pretty much the only leader on the team as well. Yes he's made a bunch of mistakes but I can't think of many from when he was playing in his actual position.
I think people are very harsh on Chambers, he played a lot of his time here at full back when in reality it would have made more sense for the manager to pick between him or Smith and played Parr at right back. By the time he was back at centre half he was already getting on a bit so it's natural for his abilities to have diminished.
To expect a 35 year old centre half to be a great right back is pretty poor management.
And I'm not trying to make excuses for him, I'm certainly not as kind to a certain centre-mid who's been around almost as long. |  |
