Squad numbers.... 12:28 - Jan 20 with 3229 views | itfcjoe | ....reading an interesting article about them earlier - but would you set up a 442 and 352 using 1-11. I'd go: -------1------- 2---5---6---3 7---4---8---11 ----9---10---- --------1-------- ----5---6---4--- 2----------------3 ----7---8--11--- ------9---10---- It seems now as though a '6' is seen as a central midfield role, but not for me Geoff. Without wingers the numbering system doesn't really work that well in a 352 - a midfield of 7,8 and 11 looks a bit flaky! -

Squad numbers.... on 15:27 - Jan 20 by Marshalls_Mullet | I don't really think it matters either way. I think a 4, 5 or 6 can be CB numbers. It doesn't stress me out. Am also fine with 4 or 6 in CM. |
Christ, it’s madness like this that allowed Ivan Zamorano to wear the number 1+8

Remind me what number Xavi favoured for Barcelona?

Squad numbers.... on 15:23 - Jan 20 by Kieran_Knows | Obviously some players have preferred numbers (Chambers with 4 here), but 6 is a centre back number, end of discussion. |
Maybe take that discussion up with Xavi.

Squad numbers.... on 15:28 - Jan 20 by ITFC_Forever | Bryan Robson was a) rubbish and the most over-rated player of the 80s, b) always injured and c) always drunk. |
d) a-c accepted as a given, but even so, was still a central midfielder that was known as being no 7 when he was fit to play. Sir Bobby did call him his captain fantastic too.

18 and 27 are great numbers for strikers. They add up to 9 and have traditionally been used by strikers joining a club during the season when squad numbers have been taken. Like Stewart when he joined from Hudds was 27. Darren Bent (I think?) was 18 when he broke through. Klinsmann at Tottenham. There are probably loads of exceptions to it but I’ve always remembered those. I always wanted #18 when I was playing!

Yes, I definitely see where you're coming from, they were just my general kind of rules for squad numbers, ha! For some reason, I've always liked the number 39. No idea why.
