Parents - how much do you spend on kids at Christmas? 01:44 - Dec 22 with 3298 views | BiGDonnie | I’ve done £300 on them all today and I know I’m going to wrap it tomorrow and still want to buy them more! I know it’s relative, but how much do you spend? Edit - tried to edit as I put it on the football page and it deleted my entire post! [Post edited 22 Dec 2019 1:46]

Parents - how much do you spend on kids at Christmas? on 11:18 - Dec 22 by sparks | They will get a shock when they leave home - and believe that they must have the £500 phone. That way lies the route to payday loans, debt and the attitude that "everyone has Sky at £90 a month, and an Audi, so I must have it too- regardless of affordability". |
My eldest two had a shock when they left home and joined the Army. Pay for their own phones, clothes, the lot. I still get the odd WhatsApp....Dad....
| Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Parents - how much do you spend on kids at Christmas? on 12:17 - Dec 22 by sparks | If there was a Dacia for less money, that looked okay and offered the same functionality and specs as my Mazda, I would have had no difficulty with that at all. I'm old enough not to be interested in brands. |
Yeah, well it’s the same with mobile phones, buh

Parents - how much do you spend on kids at Christmas? on 11:05 - Dec 22 by sparks | Good girief! I have never spent more than £129 on a phone. What is it these phones can do that normal ones cant? And do you not worry that your kids risk becoming spoiled and entitled? |
I’ve bought cheap £150 odd phones before, and to be honest my iPhone is streets ahead in terms of quality. Although I do go to very hot and very cold climates, cheap phones get absolutely caned. So for durability, I can’t beat the iPhone. It’s durable, reliable, and has lasted a couple of years already.

Parents - how much do you spend on kids at Christmas? on 11:26 - Dec 22 by sparks | Its not a stereotype- it was a comment on what happens when kids leave home having become used to the idea that they always have the expensive version regardless of purpose, or necessity. |
An Iphone 6 is hardly "the expensive version", to be fair.

They're 14 and 17 year-old girls with their own ideas about what they want. So buying them stuff to take back to the shop or giving them cold, hard cash doesn't feel very Christmassy. I remember that we all reined it in about 5 or 6 years ago after my father-in-law spent an embarrassing amount that even made my daughters feel awkward. |
We have this year. All the adults have drawn just the one family member out of a hat and you only buy for that person, £25 spend. Doesn’t include the ridiculous amounts of nieces and nephews though which we'll all buy for as normal.

Parents - how much do you spend on kids at Christmas? on 09:50 - Dec 22 by Bluefish | Just over 350 each this year, thankfully less than last year but the 2 eldest got new phones last year which are obviously stupidly expensive. |
Exactly the same. Both mine had phones last year and one wants hers upgraded this Christmas already 😡

Parents - how much do you spend on kids at Christmas? on 11:28 - Dec 22 by Bluefish | I really don't understand what you are trying to achieve here. I have bought my kids a smartphone. They range from £90 apparently to about £1200 and I spent about 300-350 so less than middle of the road, you are on a rant because they didnt have the cheapest. Dacia are cheaper than a Mazda 6 so why didn't you buy one of them? [Post edited 22 Dec 2019 11:35]
