What is it these phones can do that normal ones cant?
And do you not worry that your kids risk becoming spoiled and entitled? |
I’ve bought cheap £150 odd phones before, and to be honest my iPhone is streets ahead in terms of quality.
Although I do go to very hot and very cold climates, cheap phones get absolutely caned.
So for durability, I can’t beat the iPhone. It’s durable, reliable, and has lasted a couple of years already. |  |

Its not a stereotype- it was a comment on what happens when kids leave home having become used to the idea that they always have the expensive version regardless of purpose, or necessity. |

About 100 quid each on small, fun stuff. They're 14 and 17 year-old girls with their own ideas about what they want. So buying them stuff to take back to the shop or giving them cold, hard cash doesn't feel very Christmassy.
I remember that we all reined it in about 5 or 6 years ago after my father-in-law spent an embarrassing amount that even made my daughters feel awkward. |
We have this year. All the adults have drawn just the one family member out of a hat and you only buy for that person, £25 spend.
Doesn’t include the ridiculous amounts of nieces and nephews though which we'll all buy for as normal. | |

Just over 350 each this year, thankfully less than last year but the 2 eldest got new phones last year which are obviously stupidly expensive. |

I really don't understand what you are trying to achieve here. I have bought my kids a smartphone. They range from £90 apparently to about £1200 and I spent about 300-350 so less than middle of the road, you are on a rant because they didnt have the cheapest. Dacia are cheaper than a Mazda 6 so why didn't you buy one of them? [Post edited 22 Dec 2019 11:35]
