Whole team in own 18 yard box 19:23 - Oct 24 with 2243 viewscooperd5

Gets my goat, oppo have a corner/free kick and we have 11 players inside our own box - thus absolutely no outball if we clear it.
Why do Town do this?
I help a u14 team and always ensure 1 striker is on half way line...

Given Rotherham were a far bigger side than us, you can hardly blame them?

We don't seem to have conceded many from set pieces this season?

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

With the midfield tripping over themselves half the time, one less body may have helped..

A lot of teams do it. The analysts will have identified it leads to fewer goals conceded or something. Ignoring the fact if you can’t clear your lines properly and it comes straight back it just gives the opposition another chance (like last night).

‘Helps with a U14 team’ ..... don’t tell me, you once started for Scouts team when someone forgot their boots.
I think I’ll trust the professionals on this one.

I noticed at the Accrington game that the whole 11 come back for corners - it just encourages the opposition to bring everyone up.

I remember reading that when Hearts played Aberdeen last season they knew Aberdeen had a number of players - in particular their CHs - who were good at set pieces. So when Aberdeen got a corner Hearts left 3 players at the halfway line so that Aberdeen had to leave 4 defenders back.

One of few games that Hearts actually won!!

Yep, especially if the striker is pacy, like Jackson for instance, prob have to have at least 2 defenders on him.

with jacksons pace its madness that he isn't left up there, would mean they need to leave 2 maybe 3 back to deal

We’ll be good again... one day

I can sort of understand it when we're winning or drawing but to do it late in the game 2-0 down, as we did on Wed seems madness.

Agreed, if someone is left up 2 defenders have to cover him. The 11 in the box was my big criticism of Roy Keane and MM to some degree. Also when we have a corner we should have some one on the opposite flank, outside the penalty area, rather than all crowding into the box for anything overhit. I watch a lot of Spanish footbal and they adopt this tactic and have 2 players outside 18 yard box waiting to pounce on any headed clearance.
