Check out what Joe strummer did after The Clash - Joe Strummer and the Mescalero. Their last album Streetcore is probably their best, finished just after he died and loads of early Clash feel to it.
Lots of bands heavily influenced by The Clash check out Hard-Fi in particular the album Stars of CCTV a bit poppy but you can hear The Clash influence all the way through.

There is nobody quite like the Clash. A lot of the music from the punk era doesn't really stand the test of time, but worth checking out the following from then are:
The Ruts, ATV, early Stiff Little Fingers .
Each have that political/social commentary aspect that was so much part of The Clash. Lots of great singles from that era too. Have a listen to 'Action Time Vision: A Story of UK Independent Punk 1976-79'. Great box set that you can probably stream.
Specifically Clash related: as someone mentioned, Joe Strummer's albums with the Mescaleros are also great. Mick Jones's Carbon/Silicon also worth a listen.
Having said that, the great John Peel drew a comparison between football and music by saying that whilst history and heritage should be celebrated, it's what happening now that really matters. There is lots of brilliant music out there now. Go track it down. I was at Wembley in 1978 and Amsterdam in 1981, but it's Burton Albion in August that matters most now.
Crass was not good music although I did like the opening line to Mother Earth.....it’s Myra hindley on the cover your very own sweet anti mother. Good lyrics.
