The man is a PR master. Getting the old players in gets them onside, praising the fans, not talking about Norwich at all, showing clips of training on social media. It's made everyone buy in to him and what he wants to do and i want him to have huge success and keep us up.

But... 2 points from 3 games. Where the "new manager bounce" people talk of? Yes performances have improved but we're still not creating chances so we're better, but still a long long way off.

Ask yourselves also, if the old irishman we had in charge had played a midfield 3 of Downes, Chalobah and Skuse for three games in a row would you be singing his praises or would you be saying he is too defensive and not putting any creativity in to midfield? I think we know the answer most people would give.

PR genius.

Whilst I agree more with this the OP is right in a way. PL doing more off the pitch to cover up what’s happening on the pitch. The win(s) will come I’m sure. Starting Wednesday.

He's not doing it to cover up the fact we've not won though is he?

It seems entirely genuine & he'd be doing it even if we had won all 3 games.

Still not creating chances? We've gone from a team who hadn't scored for 3 games to one that has scored 4 goals in PL's first 3 games in charge. Ok, we're not blowing teams away, but we are having spells in each game where we're on top and cause the opposition problems. Some people want the moon on a stick.

We will lose games. We will draw games we hoped to win. The risk is that could lead to a collapse in morale at the club, given our awkward position, the fragility of what is still a very new setup and the pervasive atmosphere of doom and gloom. You only have to look at the number of 'let's face it, we are down' and 'the squad are not good enough' threads on here to gauge the underlying dark mood of the fans.

It is vitally important that the leadership can pump the supporters up to a sufficient level that they can ride over the disappointments without plunging to the bottom of the chasm. As we saw last season, it is all too easy for negativity in the stands (not just insults, but vocalised disappointment and even stony silence) to infect those on the pitch, as well.

The team, which includes a number of youngsters and players new to the club, need every ounce of encouragement they can get, to push themselves beyond the limits of their usual capabilities.

Maybe they should reduce the prices to cover this ‘special effort’ needed from the paying customers??

Sorry what would you recommend instead? An impression of John Laurie from Dad's Army ... first job was to galvanise a club, squad and fanbase that was psychologically relegated.

How much better would Pep Guardiola have done? Not much, if at all, and who wants a dead cat bounce anyway?

The target this season is fourth from bottom after we've played 46 league games. That's the time to judge PL and not three games which include just 1 defeat to a promotion favourite.

Yep, we need to start winning games soon or the position will be insurmountable. What's happening on the pitch has been markedly more coherent over the past three games but we are still a little way off.

Had Hurst gone after Swansea and Lambert had another three weeks in charge then I think we would be a few points better off now.

Nothing wrong with improving the mood of the place; it's much needed. He needs to improve results too, obviously, but 1 out of 2 is an improvement over Hurst so far.

Maybe, but then there is still a club to fund. And there's a limit to the number of "special offer" promotions the club is allowed to do (for some reason best known to the powers that be).

If Town keep offering cheap ticket promotions, then those who stumped up for season tickets will feel defrauded, and they are the backbone of the club.

They will already be feeling defrauded after signing up to a year of this drivel! To blame your paying customers for your mess is shameless!

Isn't it limited to something like four a season? Another two or three would still leave ST holders with a substantial discount.

Plus the privilege of having your favourite seat reserved for every match still remains, even if the discount for bulk purchase is slightly diminished.

I stumped up for three season tickets and couldn't care less if the club runs more promotions to win over new fans or lapsed fans ....

If these incentives help fill the stadium and create the atmosphere necessary to survive then fantastic.

Hopefully by next season PL will have Town challenging at the right end of the table and we won't need to run so many ticket promotions anyway ....

If the bounce is measured by wins, there isn’t one.

However, the bounce should be measured also by improvements: in morale, in shape, in discipline, in positivity and in performances.

On all those counts, he’s doing as well as anyone could reasonably expect given he took over a shambles of a dressing room, with real problems that are only now leaking out about Hirst and Doig.

Inheriting a side which had lost its best players didn’t help him.

Clearly the strategy is clear: get to January and the transfer window not cut off and adrift (9!or 10 points) from safety and then bring in goalscorers. To do that he needs to keep the fragile team
Morale from collapsing. That’s why he’s been slow to berate and criticise, and why he has done a PR job.

Still not creating chances? We battered Reading in the first half. And the old Irish Yorkshire man would have had Downes and Chalobah playing very different roles.

Thanks but i'm happy with Lambert.
