He was actually aiming for Pennington....you know the tactic that went out of date with Steve Whitton. The fact it happens every single kick doesn't make us at all predictable and easy to mitigate against...hence they picked up every single second ball. It was time for MM, however we now have MM.2......it's all rather a depressing groundhog day with ITFC in the Evans era. |  | | |

that's what was intended but even I could see that it wasn't going to work with their taller defence. I just don't understand why at this level of football both Bart and Gerks are told to kick it into a mass of players. Why don't our team look to receive a pass whereas Rangers keeper was always looking to pass it out. |  | | |

Edwards did have a quiet game, who did any better, he did put one or maybe two decent balls into the danger area early on but the problem was we didn't have anyone in there. Not against what Hurst tried with those changes but the game had well gone by then. For me we are are just a mix of players who don't think they or their team mates are good enough. I am left wondering if the players really know the Hurst system and believe in it ? maybe a change back to a simple 442 would give us a better chance? | | | |

Exactly what I said yesterday.
Why always kick it up the right side. Edwards had 3 players marking him most of the time there.
I often wonder why a player on the left (Knudsen, Ward or whoever is playing there on that particular day!) doesn't stay out on the wing. If the keeper kicked the ball that way when the other 19 men were on the right it would be simple to run into the space towards the goal.

Edwards looks so lightweight and appears to lack strength to me at this level, far too easy to dispossess him, although Ward was equally ineffective on the other wing. If Sears wasn't running the channels he was in the box, we simply don't get enough bodies in there to look capable of scoring a goal. The players behind Sears (Edwards, Ward, Dozzell or Chalobah) are so far adrift of him they just haven't got the speed or don't think to get in there to offer support. This is something that PH should be addressing on the training ground, but this has been evident from the first game of the season and still we are no further forward 12 games later!!! | |

Agree we don't and didn't get bodies into the box on Saturday but if you look back at the highlights you will see Edwards gets free of his markers and get 3 good balls into the danger area, 2 in the first half and 1 in the second, he did his job. If we had those bodies in the box, that you rightly talk about, we might well have been saying he had a great game with assists. IMO. [Post edited 22 Oct 2018 12:19]
