I wasn’t convinced I have to say. The thing is that any player can look like a donkey if they aren’t played in a familiar role or suited to a teams style of play.

I watch a lot of celtic on tv and in the old firm games the only rangers player i worried about was Waghorn - so yes, i did rate him highly.

when we signed Garner i had not even noticed him for Rangers and i said typical McCarthy he has signed the wrong player it should have been Waghorn - exceptionally happy when Waghorn signed a few weeks later

i pointed this out on the itfc email list at the time

Always liked him, remember thinking he was good when I saw him play for Leicester. Didn't think he would be as good for us as he was last year though. Went to the Sunderland game when I was back in the UK for a visit and came away seriously impressed.
