I hope you've been going through the form for horses who act on soft / heavy going. It will be very different this year, most horses will be trained for for this with good ground (as it usually is) in mind. Be prepared for quite a few shocks and big priced winners. Having said that I think Kalashnikov 9-2 is a solid bet in the first race tomorrow. Good luck and have a great trip.
Kalashnikov is 9/2 with WH with double winnings up to £100 extra paid in cash.
Yea i've done Sky Bet, waiting for a better match with Coral and i'm banned from Betway, the bastards.
Had a bad experience trying to register & deposit with Betway yesterday - PayPal was down apparently so not B'ways fault, but trying to contact them took me well over an hour & by that time, the race had been run! Closed my account immediately, sounds like a good swerve!
I will be laying more than punting. There will be plenty of horses in the juvenile races who will have never experienced ground like this. Generally Hendersons horses don't go on this ground and Willie Mullins has had a slow season by his standards and will be worth laying at short prices.
UK weather & potential for massive changes in the going = one reason I never do antepost betting!
I think it will be a great occasion to discuss the merits of horse racing. Hot topics such as 'does the whip hurt', 'should it be banned', and 'anyone who participates in horse racing is condoning animal cruelty' will no doubt be provided with a perfect platform to be discussed.
Your memory must be even worse than mine! as you had all that discussion last week
Thanks for that WH link J2. Just tried to have £75 ew on it and they knocked me back to £20 ew. Oh well .....Still a good offer for the punter though.
People should use that SKYBET first race offer too. Sadly I can't bet with them. Paddy power are also doing an offer where if the favourite wins and you bet something else they'll give you your money back on any Cheltenham race ...Up to a tenner only though.

Good luck everyone
Coral are £25 back if you lose on the supreme and Betway are a tenner.
Boylesports (thinks it’s them) are doing money back on every race at the festival as a free bet if 2nd or 3rd.
Ladbrokes are double the odds like WH are.
I’m gutted If The Cap Fits is missing the race. Was on at 16/1 for him to win any race at the festival from October last year. Came into 9/2 and then got injured.

Yeah but Ladbrokes are only 7-2 and WH are 5-1 Kalashnikov.

Hadn’t looked at the individual prices for Kalashnikov as I’m against him. Don’t think the favourite is anywhere near as good as Douvan or Vautour but on the ground, I actually don’t think the 15/8 available is ‘too short’.
It’s not the greatest renewal - albeit better than the shocker that was last year.

I'd want to see how the ground is running before I'd have a serious bet. It's down as heavy now and will only get worse as it gets cut up. I'm not one for betting short price horses but that Getabird has drifted today from 5-4 out to 2-1.Makes you think doesn't it.

I said last week that I’d play Getabird if it was a) soft and b) bigger than 6/4
2/1 on ground I think he will like on a sharp course where he can kick off the front off the bend is good enough for me. I think the old course at Cheltenham will suit him perfectly

Damn. I want Getabird and First Flow to get beaten.

Why do you want First Flow beaten? He’s a fair price if it’s heavy ground. He will relish the mud. I expect him to be backed all morning tomorrow because of the ground.

They were the least expensive matches. Guaranteed at least one refund as well as the £15 already locked in. Also got 3x Betfair £10 acca free bets, a William Hill £15 free bet and 1-2 other little bits. Not bad for day 1.
