| News Comment | Town Closing in On Broadhead Signing at 13:08:53
Speaking with a Sunderland fan yesterday and their fans will be gutted they didnt sign him even in the championship. The only flag he raised was potentially injury prone, but quality-wise we should expect him to deliver fingers crossed! |
| News Comment | Gibbs Joins Norwich as Clubs Agree Compensation at 12:28:16
The comments about Ben Knight on this post are ridiculous! He signed for City in 2018 and is still there, so arguably doing something right. This article was written yesterday which suggests he is progressing as a footballer (otherwise would've surely been let go) - https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-city-tr Those who mention the Cat 1 vs Cat 2 comparisons are spot on. Its not just about the club name, its the quality these young players will get around them (coaches, players, experience) etc. Surely if there is talent that someone thinks can be developed, then support it. We all want to see young english players coming through! |
| News Comment | Judge: Matter With Referee Closed at 07:56:12
@ArnieM - agree takes two to tango and interestingly talk sport we're calling Judge out yesterday to come out and explain what he said in the first instance. Refs get too much abuse everyone is guilty of it at every level, needs a shift change in culture - and arguably this should come from the top with the role models as well as the bottom up approach taken by the FA |
| News Comment | Downes Hands in Transfer Request at 10:58:39
With a salary cap in place on top of a strategy to limit spending the younger players are the future here and he is the one younger player that has proven he can be consistent. No blame, we would all do the same. I don't expect the price to be much higher than what palace have already offered and we've got to be dreaming if we think that is the case... |
| News Comment | Lambert: Everybody at the Club is Suffering at 00:56:50
“Survival is different, sitting in mid-table is totally different but when you're asked to go and win a title or promotion, it's a totally different thing, especially if you've not experienced it before and if you've not been able to handle it before. It's a totally different make-up. This for me is the saddest part of the whole Post match interview. Don't get me wrong I'm under no illusions as to where we are, but it just goes to show that the club hierarchy, management and players settled for mid table and survival in the championship and the PR machine sold something quite different with us all before last season just hoping we might see some improvement to et back to those playoff runs in the championship. Such regression! Another poster on the other thread is right Evans isn't going anywhere bar a miracle, but the management and players can change so all we can hope for is that he realises this and puts the proper infrastructure around this club to see it actually start progressing again... it's mathematically possible but where is this motivation and streak going to come from...? |
| News Comment | AFC Wimbledon 0-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 21:53:01
Went to get a ticket for this game but it was sold out, even looked at hospitality at £40 per ticket... £40 and my sanity saved.. the form is the worrying thing - there is nothing to show this might turn around! |
| News Comment | Caretaker Klug Switches System as Blues Face Millwall at 15:00:00
Interesting to see that of the permanent Hurst signings only one starts. Telling of the quality that has been brought in. Hopefully the team spirit is there for Klug with a willingness to impress a new manager watching from the stands. Regardless of the result I'm hoping i can read some positive things about the performance today. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: McGoldrick's an Obvious Target in January at 15:08:27
MM: “But if we were to replace him with somebody that's a younger version that comes in and for the long-term of the club, that may well be beneficial." Loan is short term ...How are we going to get that on a bosman.... Worrying that's all we are going to get in if we start letting our better first teamers go, I thought we were building after the spending in the summer ! |
| News Comment | Town 1-0 Preston North End - Match Report at 17:18:44
At the game today, admittedly first time in a while as I'm visiting, but can see why the post game comments are so mixed. Whilst the result was good - and 3 points are great The overall quality of the game was to be honest poor and Preston will be disappointed not to get something from the game. I'm baffled at the football MM is trying to play. Against a stronger side we would struggle. Any money we get for Murphy could be invested but it needs a shake up. 15k there today... Summer holidays but still low surely. Positives - back four were pretty good today and kept their strikers at bay. Ward looks quality and creative. Knudsen definitely growing on me. Smith was MOM. Pittman did the job he was asked and won a lot in the air today in murphys place showing he can fill in there, but has so much more to his game that should be brought out. Things to be addressed -Sears is unaffective in the wide position and I feel sorry for him. The three in the middle 2 of which aren't ball players are assisting the long ball game as they just don't want the ball. When bish came on he couldn't even get on the ball to show his quality. Trouble is that 3 points today is good but won't fix the long term problems. |
| News Comment | Anderson: Next Four Games Massive at 13:45:22
I think we have to look at the maths here. Doing a little bit of research and 75 points has guaranteed a play off place for the last 10 years. Sometimes its 72, even 70, but the competition for places is likely to mean it will go to there or there abouts 75. I think some of you have found that through the predictor. Currently we have 51 points. With 10 games left to go, we would need 24 points from a possible 30. That's 8 wins, or 7 and 3 draws. Anything less won't be good enough. Any team who can pull off a feat like that deserves to be in the playoffs, but i think we would struggle to find a team capable, let alone our current squad and situation, its too much of an ask. Then again, the players have to believe, or their season is over... |
| News Comment | McGoldrick Out for 10 Weeks at 13:05:21
Putting it out there - what about a recall for Marriot - good time to get him on that bench and get him out there for some last 10/15s? |
| News Comment | No Deal for Sweeney at 12:10:53
Note - Gary Abbott is Kingstonian's Assistant Manager. Alan Dowson is the manager. |
