McCarthy Leaves Town With Immediate Effect - Updated With Audio
at 18:52:22

Alleluia! McCarthy has gone and at least his time here ended with a win (ironic goal and first of season for Jonas Knudsen). Shame McCarthy's time ended on a somewhat sour note but he was and is very stubborn and this didn't help at times. Even so, it is clear to all, he has left Town in better shape than when he arrived, but he didn't get great financial support from Evans and most of the Town players have under performed (letting him and everyone else, including themselves down). Anyway a time for a fresh start for everyone and hopefully the new manager will get more support from the owner?.... COYB!

McCarthy: Everything Has its Cycle and I Think it’s Run its Term
at 18:59:09

This is great news! I hoped Marcus Evans would leave also but this is a start.
Thanks for your help Mick, but really you were up against it, without more support from the chairman and with your old school style. Football has changed a lot in recent years (money means much more and talent, experience and success are in very short supply). Unless Town wake up and change their ways dramatically then this fresh start may not succeed, but we live in hope and with support from good players and fans, this club can rise from the ashes! COYB!

Ward: Derby Win Great for Team Morale
at 01:26:30

Well done Town! Great result at Derby. I'm ever hopeful Town will push onwards and upwards as Ward suggests, but after so many seasons of failing to play to their potential I am not confident. Still we've got to keep supporting them! COYB!! :-)

McCarthy: Beaten By a Better Team
at 19:59:12

Very disappointing result and loss at home today. The team have under performed again and once again missed a great opportunity and let themselves and the fans down again. This sorry and sad state, is not all the managers fault, as too many players have not played well enough all season. Mick though, should acknowledge that both he and the team have underperformed and not come out with bland excuses as he has, saying that the other team were better and more motivated!
There is one last chance for the Town players and manager in the last game away at Forrest and that will not be an easy game. COYB...manager and team show the fans some pride and either win or draw the final game! COYB!

Hyam Set for U23s Return
at 22:03:05

I was wondering where Luke Higham was (especially as there is another Luke Higham who plays for Blackpool and is on loan somewhere else). Good to know he is getting better after his injury and surgery and may get back to the first team soon. Goodluck and best wishes to Luke and competition is getting fierce now with many new signings for Town which will hopefully give the team a much needed boost! Away at Villa tomorrow..so COYB. Town were a bit better against Reading (might not say much, but it is a bit positive and a start to find some return to form and confidence!). They will need to on top form and show lots of grit and strength of character against Villa...COYB, show us what you are made of (show plenty of steel to get either a win or a draw..) COYB!

McCarthy: Best Won't Play for Town Again
at 21:17:31

Best was very poor against Lincoln, whose defenders had him on toast and he did not respond positively or even seem to try to respond and put a shift in for the team. That performance of course was a disaster for Town and especially a disaster for Best (anyone wanting him after seeing that must be desperate). Still quite a strange story to go to press and again not very positive, but at least we know he won't put another poor performance in for Town. Let's hope his replacement (whever that will be) does better (be hard not to really though!)...COYB!!

Chambers: We're Letting Boss Down
at 11:22:51

Good to see captain Chambers trying to take responsibility for Town's poor form. The players have let everyone down (including the fans and themselves) and they all need to take responsibility and work harder and smarter to get back to playing better and getting wins and at least points. I do not want to hear players talking about relegation lightly either, whether saying they are too good to go down (sic-arrogant joke given Town's recent form and play!?) or they are worried about it. They should consider it but they should take responsibility to play better and start winning games, scoring goals and not conceding and concentrate on that! At least, if they show that attitude to us fans on and off the pitch, we can see they are trying to do better, which is hard to see right now. So come on Town players, take note of this plea from Chambers and show everyone you are trying do better! COYB...

Town 0-1 Rotherham - Match Report
at 23:07:23

What a load of rubbish...I am losing the will to support Town. It takes tremendous strength of character to support this awful football constantly from Town, with no sign of any improvement . They are playing rubbish football at the moment and they deserve everything they get... :-(

Reading 5-1 Town - Match Report
at 17:53:41

Dreadful result. Embarrassing and humiliating for the team and supporters.
The team need to wake up and man up.
They are talented players but they gave the game away by gifting Reading easy chances!
Simply not good enough. They have to learn there should be a fine margin between winning and losing, not an great gulf, which they gave the opposition!
I hope they do wake up soon, put this behind them and learn from it and stop making it easy for the opposition, and do better! COYB!

Burnley 1-0 Town
at 00:58:27

Town played reasonably well at Burnley today except for 2 issues. Firstly, they gifted Burnley such a soft goal and secondly they had chances but missed them! That is a recipe for disaster for any team!

Town must play well in their last home game of the season and finish the season with a win. This would give all the team and fans encouragement from this season and hope for next season. COME ON YOU BLUES!

Woody Could Play Jonny's Role
at 22:27:59

I have always liked Antony Wordsworth since he came to play for Town. He seemed a more creative midfield player than other Town midfielders and I felt, more likely to create assists and even get the odd goal himself. He hasn't had it easy at Town, as he has had injuries and at times, been left out for more energetic (but maybe not as positive and definitely not so creative) players. Sometimes he has gone back in the team and not quite hit the ground running or shown his full potential but that is hard to do if you are in and out of the team.

I suppose the main thing is Town have some good midfielders now eg Hyam, Skuse, Green, Tabb, Wordsworth and Williams. Fitting them all in is quite a problem but that is where being good squad players is important.

Finally, I have to say....Williams for me is the pick of the bunch and has been excellent and made such an improvement to Town. If he stays in good form Town can hope to finish this season well! GO TOWN!....

Blackburn 2-0 Town
at 19:22:13

What a surprise putting Wordsworth back in! I was pleased he was back but it felt strange and inconsistent from Mick McCarthy. Mick did pick a team to win and they did well in the first half with a few chances to score but what happened in the second half!? Rhodes scored (typical against his old club) and there was none of the Town fight/comebacks seen in other games this season. That second half was poor!

Town need more than ever to play hard in the remaining games (for every minute). The play offs look unlikely now but every Town player should be giving it their all in every game to the end and not going AWOL like the second half at Blackburn.

COME ON YOU BLUES!!

Player of the Year Voting Starts
at 21:16:05

It has to be David McGoldrick!
He is the best quality player Town have and without him Town would have had another grim season.
Berra has done well and is a good player but nonetheless McGoldrick is my Town player of the season.

Sometimes Life Is Simply Wonderful — Notes for Derby
at 22:09:42

It is great that Town are playing for that sixth promotion play-off place with something worthwhile to play for in the remaining games left in the season.
It will be tough against Derby who are super confident after their "derby" win against Forest but Town can beat them if they keep their composure and be competitive (and ruthless)from start to finish.
Cometh the hour, cometh the Town team! Again, Town are not favourites to win the game with most footballing pundits but that doesn't matter and what counts is the fight and heart the Town players put in to be ruthless and win the game and keep up what could be a grandstand epic finish to Town's season!

No Colchester Return for Wordsworth
at 10:43:18

I hope he has a good loan spell wherever he goes. I feel he has been unlucky so far at Town as from what little I have see him play for Town (he hasn't had many games) he has impressed me as a good footballer and I wanted to see him playing regularly in the Town team. Goodluck to you Anthony & keep trying and hopefully the success you deserve, you will get in time!

Town 1-1 Barnsley
at 19:34:37

Another opportunity for a win and 3 points wasted. After the first half though I was optimistic for a win as Town were on top of a poor Barnsley side (largely through Town's aerial power from open play and set piece crosses which Barnsley notoriously had problems with). The second half was very bad though and Barnsley were first to most loose balls and had more energy and drive and commitment than Town players, most of whom gave up playing for hoofing long aimless balls up field to players who couldn't keep the ball and hold play up or just booted it out of touch. Giving possession away so much put Town under pressure who dropped deep to defend and didn't defend but stood off the Barnsley players and were run ragged by them. Town had virtually no attacking threat from then on. It really could have been worse as Barnsley missed a couple of other good chances. Overall Tommy Smith was Town's best player with an average performance at best from the rest! It is quite easy to play when the opposition allows you to but if the opposition doesn't make it easy then of course it is harder to play and that is the time a team needs to pull together and show pride, spirit, fight and determination (and if necessary play to win 'ugly'). In all a poor team performance from Town which is very disappointing, while in contrast Barnsley showed great fight and spirit. I hope Town can learn from this quickly, as I'm sure Town players are very disappointed by this performance, and do better in the coming games this month.

Woody Not Out of Favour
at 15:03:28

I am a big fan of 'Woody' and on ability and general commitment and play, don't understand why he isn't playing in the team more (except there are several midfielders competing). So far he hasn't played much for Town but when he does play I think Town play better. I want to see him in the team regularly. It seems lots of people are asking for more creativity in Town side and imho Woody is more creative than the other Town midfielders and deserves to play more. Please let him play more Mick... :-)

Derby County 4-4 Town
at 11:54:56

Good grief! What sort of lame game was that by Town?! I really don't like to criticize but at times I feel compelled to and this is one such! I listened to the game on Radio Suffolk and Town were comfortably 4-1 ahead at the break mainly because Derby were poor. Town played like xxxx in the second half though and were lucky not to get beaten! I will credit Derby for a great fightback but Town were awful in the second half and didn't react to the Derby changes and didn't show enough fight-just fright! After Wigan, Mick MacCarthy said Town were not ruthless and they haven't learnt that lesson. I hope he tears into them for that second half performance and I agree with lots of comments here it was shocking! Come on Town players ... man up! Town just cannot be so inconsistent if they are to realise any of their undoubted potential...Wow..the highs and lows of being a Town fan! :-) COYB

Titus Bramble in Squad Against Gills
at 18:46:40

What is going on-Titus Bramble back for Town? This is plainly mid-summer madness! It is just wrong for many good reasons (why is it even happening? IMHO this is a bad move to bring him back to Town on a permanent basis-what is the deal with this? C'mon on Town think what you are doing! We need to do better than this heading to the start of a new season-please?!!)
