In the match before he got the job he was in the stands with David Sheepshanks and I was in the crowd (and it felt like the whole ground was joining in) as we sang "You can stick your Joe Royle up your @rse" - I did not want him at all. Thought he'd ruin our passing game and blow our Euro home form record (fantastic trivia to share over the years).
But the man won me over. The football was more direct but more exciting. Kept us in contention for a quick return. He worked wonders under financial constraints - I feel he wasn't given the full picture about our perilous financial problems when he started.
Favourite moment was him squaring up to Pardew in one of the playoff 1st leg with West Ham when we dragged ourselves back into the tie 2-2 from being 2-0 down at Upton Park.
Good post. Sums it up: 100 games of meh and in the last 10 games becomes indispensable. Let him go. Rather take a chance on others. Grant's been here since 2009 and enough's enough.
Anyone else remember Jermaine Wright playing a blinder towards the end of his contract?

I hope Sixto "Mumo" Peralta comes online to read this article and see's my comment. It was me you pointed at and shook your finger at Derby away in the relegation season because I was wearing a River Plate top, how I smiled to myself when I found out you later signed for them ;) A fantastic player.
Enough of all this talk of sacking. We've been down this path and it's not working. Stability is needed. Stability, the basis from which to build a winning consistency. Look mid-term and sod the short term. We have enough old timers. Time to blend in youth and give them time to find their feet and flourish.
Strangest start to a season ever. Never thought I'd be sooo excited that we've cleared the decks so emphatically. Come on Clegg, Keano's done his side of the bargain, over to you sir.
