Yeah for sure. Although I guess, so long as you recruit the right players for your money, you can hopefully get it back in the event of relegation. |

Another thing to consider re. spending is amortisation, I believe? I think you can now spread the cost of a signing over a max of five years rather than eight. So a £25m deal could cost £5m a year between 2024-25 and 2029-30. |

Okay, so, finger in the air... £150m + PSR/FFP headroom. In actual fact, a spend of £60-£80m on players doesn't then appear outlandish, so long as wages are kept in check. External funds ring-fenced for infrastructure projects already too! |

So what will our 'loss' be limited to? You'd think our matchday and commercial revenue will be on a par with the likes of Palace, who saw revenues hit nearly £200m in 2023 (inclusive of broadcast money). |

Unfortunately the Nketiah rumour does have legs. It was mentioned by a guy 'Team news and ticks' on Twitter, who is VERY well connected at Arsenal. I know him personally from uni. He's someone who gets line-ups, transfer speculation first on Arsenal. I'm with you though, I'd be a tad underwhelmed if he was to be the competition for Hirst. |

Spot on re. your second paragraph. Say all 13 non-loanees stay and 10-11 remain regulars, that's 11-12 new faces needed in a 22-man PL squad. |

It's not even being ruthless though. We're going to lose the following as a natural course: Harness Aluko Moore Donacien Jackson Ball Humphreys (loan) Walton Al-Hamadi (maybe loan?) Hutchinson Sarmiento Although you may not replace like-for-like, that's still 8-9 bodies to recruit, before you even consider the odd upgrade in certain areas of the pitch. It's magnificent what we've achieved. We'll never see the likes of it again. But this cohort have given us a platform to become an established Premier League outfit again. Regardless of whether or not they're regulars or even here next season, they'll be etched into the club's folklore forever. Now's not the time to get starry-eyed and I'm sure McKenna and Ashton would agree deep down. |

Abso-fecking-lutely. Look at that list and tell me which calls I've made wrong? Then look at the number of signings made by promoted clubs in the last 5-10 years. A dozen is needed just to cover the general squad churn, without even discussing the need for a few seasoned PL campaigners in there. If you think we're making 2-3 signings, we'd get the record low points total, guaranteed. You cannot stand still in that division. Norwich have proved that multiple times. McKenna and Ashton won't make that mistake. It's not 2000 anymore. |

The mind boggles. Keepers: Hladky (may still be off) Walton (almost certain to go for 1st team football) Slicker (sticking around) Defenders: Woolfie (keep) Burgess (keep but realistically only as a capable backup) Edmundson (same as Burgess) Davis (keep) Clarke (keep as versatile backup) Tuanzebe (keep but needs competition) Donacien (exit door) Midfielders: Travis (back to Blackburn) Ball (exit door) Harness (exit door) Humphreys (season loan) Taylor (backup or maybe even a season loan in the Champ) Morsy (keep) Luongo (keep but realistically only as capable backup) Burns (keep but needs competition) Aluko (retiring) Strikers: Hirst (keep but needs competition) Chaplin (keep but needs competition) Jackson (exit door) Broadhead (keep) Ali Al-Hamadi (season loan in the Champ) I make that 1, possibly 2 keepers needed. 3-4 defenders needed. 4-5 midfielders needed and 2 forwards needed. |

Two or three signings?! Hahahahaha. You can't be serious? |
| Forum Reply | So… at 09:29 7 May 2024
Hladky/New Keeper Tuanzebe New CB Woolfie Davis Morsy New CM New RM/Burns New AM New LM Hirst/New Striker P.S. Luton signed 13 players last summer and still managed to retain the core/culture of their squad. Anyone that thinks we'll see less than a dozen new faces is barmy. Not all big-money purchases obviously, but there'll be a shake-up of sorts. |
| Forum Reply | IF we do go up...What business needs to be done? at 08:39 2 May 2024
We'll need at least a dozen new faces. That's a fact. Even Luton signed 14 last summer! New GK Backup LB 2x new CBs New RB Proper competition/replacement for Luongo Proper competition for Morsy 1, maybe 2 strikers (with Al-Hamadi loaned to a Champ club for a season) Replacement for Hutchinson Proper competition/replacement for Chaplin Proper competition for Burns And that's before you look at adding a few more experienced squad players for depth. We've got to be realistic. Forest didn't sign the amount they did for no reason. We won't go that extreme, but the squad will evolve. McKenna won't want to stand still. |
| Forum Reply | So what can we actually expect from Coventry then? at 21:52 28 Apr 2024
He may be a tad old-school, but he can only pick the players who are fit enough/available. 4 games in 9 days (3 after the heartache of the cup semi) is as tough as it gets in the back end of a campaign. |
| Forum Reply | Premiership? Do we have a strong enough squad? at 20:00 28 Apr 2024
Anyone that thinks we'd need less than a dozen new faces needs their head wobbling. We're going to see 5-6 depart this summer, promotion or no promotion. They'd need replacing as a matter of course and then upgrades to our existing XI. |
