Other Chelsea loanees; Alfie Gilchrist
at 16:31 8 May 2024

Haha fairly accurate.

Been v impressed with Gilchrist when I’ve seen him. John Terry has been raving about him for a couple of years now. Personal preferences aside, you’d think he’d be able to spot a good defender when he sees one.

Think Omari’s progress this year puts us in a really good position going forward to get good prem loans in. Especially if we wanted to go back to Chelsea.

We should now be seen as safe pair of hands and more by Chelsea for their youth talent.

Would like to see Alfie Gilchrist on loan next year. Has been v v good whenever called upon this season and played a blinder against spurs and Son the other night.

Can play RB and CB. Would assume if we can only have two loans next year then versatility would be a key consideration.

One thing that got on my nerves at the weekend
at 11:48 8 May 2024

This.

Wasn't the only one, have a seen a few vloggers who were there too.

Not sure how they got tickets but I do think that needs looking at and those supporters or staff who potentially gave them the tickets should be reprimanded.

Would be hard for them to negotiate a buy back with only a year left on his deal. Sell ons maybe.

Chelsea are desperate to sell players and everyone knows it.

Championship players we could be looking to sign this summer
at 09:02 8 May 2024

Broja signed a new deal last summer and is on around £100k a week so suspect that puts him out of our league.

A loan may have been possible but I think Chelsea will sell as they need the cash.

They can only sell academy players because they are booked as pure profit in FFP terms. Or in Omari's case, he has a very low book value as they paid £5m for him, so if they got £20m he goes in at £15m profit.

If they sell Lukaku etc, that doesn't make difference in terms of FFP for them.

Chelsea and Birmingham are a cautionary tale of what can happen when you let the Americans start meddling around in things they don't understand...

We really are very lucky to have our owners!

Not sure how accurate this is.

Chelsea need to sell before June 30th to raise funds for FFP. They'll sell everyone they can to avoid selling Gallagher.

That means, you'd think, he needs to agree a new deal in the next few weeks if he's going on their pre season tour in July? Otherwise be sold in this FFP window.

As I posted yesterday, I think quite likely he goes to Germany when you look at Sancho, Belligham and now Musiala and Maatsen too. A well trodden path for young British talent.

I'd love him back here though obviously!

*One caveat to the above, there is some confusion as to whether Chelsea booked Mount's transfer in the last FFP window or this one. If they have rolled it to this window then the pressure to sell will be less and maybe then Hutchinson signs new deal and is potentially loaned again.

There won't be a Forest style spree

Maybe.

Can't see it though given the German (Dortmund in particular) route is such a well trodden path now for those young English players.

Hopefully you're right though :)

Yes, because he can play champions league football and get paid considerably more.

Really really difficult to see how Omari comes back here sadly.

He has a year left on his deal and Chelsea need to raise finances to avoid selling Gallagher. The youth players (or ones like Omari with a low book value) will be the ones sold to raise the money, given how FFP works. I suspect he'll end up on a permanent move to Dortmund or similar for £15-£20m sadly.

But there are other Omari's out there and clubs now know they can trust their youth with KM, so hopefully somebody just as exciting will come in.

I thought that yesterday too.

Is there enough time this summer? 3.5 months until season starts. I assume planning permission and draft plans have already been approved,

Agreed.

The only touting I could possibly see would be the Huddersfield player's allocation coming to market as I imagine every other cohort (town players, sponsors etc) will want to be there.

Anyway, I've made my peace with Isaacs tomorrow!

Unlikely you'd think I agree.

And as I posted earlier in the week - the various hospitality brokers I know via my work have absolutely nothing. Neither do the two football agents I know. Which would indicate that there has been little to no touting.

I assume touts are the ones who use such software? There are none on the re sale sites so maybe it was just members with 2 games etc?

If we go up then one of the pleasing things will be that people like Jackson and JD will get a nice promotion bonus before being waived on their way.

Both excellent servants for the club regardless of ability. As per the OP , they are a credit to themselves and the club.

The moment that won (or lost) it for us..
at 11:49 2 May 2024

I honestly think where we will have "won" it, if indeed we do go up, will have been that 2 week break pre Hull.

We were literally on our knees after that Saints game and it showed with the following three performances. As it was, we got to get Hirst and Wes back in and we couldn't have possibly wished for a better time to play Coventry.

Had it not been the case, would you have fancied us to get a win at a still play off chasing Cov, without those two and a much needed break? I'm not so sure.

Hypothetical Ticket Sale
at 10:06 2 May 2024

On a similar topic, part of my job is often to arrange hospitality for Clients at various things. There are few "brokers" that we would use for this.

As long as you're prepared to pay, they will find tickets - be it Wimbledon, Silverstone, NFL etc.

I have been to every single one of these people and others in my network (an agent, a semi-senior person at sky etc) not a single one of them can get their hands on a ticket for Saturday!! I've literally never seen this before!

I've now resigned myself to a pub in town for Saturday and fair play to all of you who are going and that sat through the Evans era etc. I hope it's a day to remember for all of us, including you guys in the ground! Very envious!

Hi Mate - I’m flying back Saturday am so sadly won’t be there. Don’t have ticket as yet but couldn’t not be there!

Look forward to watching a few PL games there next season hopefully! I’m in Zürich as above but in GVA at least once a week.

No mate, sadly not but if Huddersfield haven't sold out you'd imagine they'll go back on sale surely?
