I fully believe I carry a curse which afflicts the sporting teams of whatever locality I am in. I went to just about every Ipswich home game from 2010 to 2020, not a great time for Town. In 2020 I moved to Sheffield for uni. That season, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham all got relegated. In 2021/22, Doncaster and Barnsley also got relegated. In 2022/23, I move to Oklahoma for a year studying abroad. Blades and Wednesday both get promoted, Rotherham manage to survive in the Championship. The Oklahoma Sooners American football team go 6-7, the first season they lost more games than they won since 1998. In 2023/24, I move back to Sheffield for my final year. Blades and Rotherham both get relegated again, looked very much like Wednesday would be joining them for most of the season. I'm moving to Cambridge in the autumn, I'm not a betting man but I'd strongly recommend betting on them to go down next season. I'm rather concerned I'm moving too close to Ipswich as well. Don't worry I'm unable to go to the game tomorrow. [Post edited 3 May 13:52]

Long shot but don't suppose there's a spot where Town fans are watching the game in Sheff. My uni friends are boring and want to watch Villa-Chelsea. |

| Forum Reply | Who is, or was, the best footballer on here.......? at 13:31 11 Apr 2024
In terms of current ability, purely based on what seems to be the average age on here, I reckon I might be near the top given that I'm early 20s. I'm nothing special, play SIL Division 3 when I'm not at uni, ability wise could probably play a couple of divisions up but I'm guaranteed to start on the sporadic occasions I'm about for my current team, which I don't think would be the case if I played Prem or div 1. Played a decent level as a youth and had some good games against guys who went on to become pros at ITFC. Usually full back but prefer wing back, very quick, keep myself really fit, very strong in the challenge, thrive at 1 to 1 defending. Technically bang average, crossing leaves a bit to be desired as a wing back, not much good in the air. Enjoy winding up the opposition. |

Boyton marshes are really really tranquil and utterly idyllic on a summer's day. Also love Shingle Street which is just down the road. [Post edited 9 Apr 16:34]

| Forum Reply | Which of these is the most annoying person to be sat near at a game? at 01:08 12 Feb 2024
There's a bloke who sits behind me in Cobbold C who always talks about Man United which is just weird behaviour. If Town and United are playing he'll have the United game on his phone and also be watching that. Part of me wants to go easy on him cause he has always gone, even during League One and the relegation, so has been more loyal than me in recent years, but my god I'm so sick of hearing him whinge about Man bloody United. |

Sheffield's still the best city in Yorkshire. |
| Forum Thread | Davis vs Mings vs Cresswell at 23:18 7 Dec 2023
High praise maybe but I can't help but think Leif Davis has all the good bits from two of our previous left-backs (both of whom went on to represent England). Davis has Mings' attacking prowess and endless ability to just get up and down the line all game, albeit lacking the size and aeriel presence, whilst also possessing the pinpoint crossing of Cresswell. Is Leif Davis the best of the three? |
| Forum Reply | how are T Levels regarded? at 14:20 6 Dec 2023
So my university (University of Sheffield) does accept T Levels, but says only if they're directly related to the degree. I would say A Levels in Maths and Physics are a safer bet if he's looking at RG unis, which with his GCSE results he should be. |

I really wouldn't have guessed that Kayden Jackson and Janoi Donacien would be the longest serving survivors of that team. (Woolfenden did also technically play that season but for all of 45 minutes before being loaned out) |

Long shot but anyone driving to the game from Sheff tonight? Had been planning to take the tram but Stagecoach are saying its unlikely to run to Rotherham for the rest of the day because of flooding. Any spare car seats going would be much appreciated! |
| Forum Reply | Roger Osborne - just watched Lifes a Pitch at 14:36 30 Sep 2023
When he was young my granddad would drive him to Charsfield F.C. matches for whom they both played. My grandad describes him as very shy and quiet (being a teenager in a team of grown men) but terrifically talented. Frequently describes watching Osborne score in the Cup Final as the most surreal and unbelievable moment of his life. [Post edited 30 Sep 2023 14:38]

For all the talk about a new centre half Woolfenden and Burgess look absolutely at home in this division. |

Weirdly, I used to quite enjoy watching Berra slug it out against Hugill. Same with Matt Smith or Lukas Jutkiewicz or whichever big hard bastard Championship clubs put up against him. If Berra had his gumshield in you knew it was going to be a battle. Normally I'm really against ugly football, and I didn't even rate Berra that highly, buts sometimes in those otherwise dull home draws you had to find entertainment in what you could. |
