| Forum Reply | New club song? at 11:04 7 Feb 2024
Was at Eintracht Braunschwieg in December watching them play Kaiserlautern. Was a great game and in the 67th minute they have a song called "Deutscher Meister" that they sing for a minute to commemorate their only league title in 1967, about how they were champions of Germany. Thought we could have a song for the 61st-62nd minute about how we were once Champions of England referencing Sir Alf and one for the 81st minute about how we were Champions of Europe referencing Sir Bobby. |

Are we not expecting a last minute surprise like the last derby match at Portman Road, when Gerkin got the nod ahead of Bart? Still don't get it! |

It is an absolute disgrace that Martin Peters - who won the World Cup - didn't get into their best ever side. I know he was old when he went there, but he, according to my Norwich fan Uncle, he was the best player they have ever had and still was miles better than anyone else in the team. Said that he had to adjust his game as he when he first joined he was playing great passes that the rest of the team weren't good enough to get onto. Although he would struggle to beat Muhren and Wark into our greatest ever midfield... |

I think that Bart's return will depend almost entirely on how he has reacted to being dropped. If he has being putting a shift in in training and showing the right attitude, then by all means bring him back now Gerken has made some mistakes. If he hasn't, then Gerken should keep the shirt. I have no idea how he has reacted. Have heard lots of rumours about how the senior players have responded to Hurst but don't know if they are true or not and not sure how much of it is down to how Hurst and Doig have treated the team. Just don't think that the decision will be solely down to who is the best keeper, it will be more about the impact on the squad and Hurst making the call based on his view from training. |

Think that the advice here is good. Get on to your MP, your MEPs and local paper and kick up a stink. The press are aware of the government's 'hostile environment' stuff to make it look like we are being tough on immigration, and there is an argument that you and your girlfriend have been caught up in that despite not being an immigration case... |

After watching the game at Exeter, think it would be harsh to drop Edun. That said, think you need Skuse and Chalobah for the holding players, especially against a decent side like Villa. I'd be tempted to drop Nolan, but not sure Hurst will see it like that... |

My team would be: Bart Donacien Chambers Toto Knudsen Skuse Chalobah Edun Edwards Jackson Harrison Jackson would be a lot narrower than Edwards giving Harrison some real support. |

I would be surprised if Ward gets in after Tuesday... |
| Forum Thread | Referee last night at 12:27 15 Aug 2018
Haven't seen too many comments about the ref last night. Think it is fair to say that he was as bad as people were expecting, after seeing the comments about him being from near Exeter, working there and them always winning when he refs them. He was a big lad, struggled to keep up with play, was massively inconsistent with his decisions, and booked our fitness coach. Knudsen and Chris Doig waited to make some pretty forceful comments at the end... |

I was there, and thought he was alright in the first half. Assumed that he was replaced by Spence as PH wanted a more attacking threat rather than a solid defender. Spence looked a bit short of confidence and didn't really get forward as much as you would have thought he would. |

No way. There was nothing that I saw last night that made me think that we would properly struggle. We just need time and games to get the players used to each other and the system. All of the new players on the pitch last night showed quality in places, and we just need them to gel and we'll be fine. |
| Forum Reply | Question for those who were there last night at 09:44 15 Aug 2018
I thought that we were clearly the better team. At half time, thought that we had got a bit of lucky goal, but was expecting us to step up and take control of the game. Thought it was clear that the players are still getting used to each other and the system, and the misplaced passes were down to people not being on the same wavelength yet. Think that the criticism from Hurst was aimed at the more established players such as Chambers, Knudsen, Ward and Sears who all seemed below par. The new players were certainly putting the effort in, and no-one could accuse Jackson off not putting a shift in. Was maybe a little disappointed with Nolan in that he could have been more positive and linked up with Jackson more... He certainly wasn't playing off him and being the creator. None of the new players looked bad though, they all showed glimpses of real quality that made you think that they could step up, and they will clearly all benefit from more time playing together... The issue for me was that we didn't make it count in the last third, and the mistakes that we making that were letting Exeter get at us. They didn't create much that wasn't started by a loose pass from us in midfield that allowed them to break. |

Bought the membership for her last season, without realising that you got a voucher for 4 tickets for a match of your choice. Thought that they will never let me have them for the Norwich match as it in the top category for tickets, but not an issue at all! |

Nice work. Got my tickets over the weekend too. £0 for two adult and two kids as part of my daughters Junior blues membership! £20 for the season, and she'll get a football and a lunchbox as well! |
| Forum Thread | Ipswich games on the Sky red button at 11:41 7 Aug 2018
Does anyone know anything about how this works? I generally work later and don't always get home in time for the start of matches. Can you record a game that is on the red button? Any advice gratefully received (except for posts saying get a job that finishes earlier!) |

This man speaks a lot of sense, jetlag is a bummer when you first get there, and it is grim doing it in someone else's house. Flew to Oz twice in the last few years, did Emirates the first time and Royal Brunei the second. Royal Brunei was ace, but it is a dry airline. Didn't mind as was flying with a young kid and really wanted to go to Brunei. Had a great stop over there, except for the durian! Emirates is great, but not sure if they do a one-stop option to Brisbane. |

The pitch was tucked away a bit, glad I had a mate who is a local to show me the way! Was impressed by Edwards, great to see him demanding the ball and looking to run at people and get crosses in. It was shame that there was never anyone there to meet them. Agree with the comments about Sears, he didn't do much with his touches and it is hard to see where he will fit into the team. Think the same could be said of Ward, who didn't do much apart from the goal. Was disappointed that we didn't create more chances, but was pleased with the shape and the style of the play in the main with people looking for the ball and to get forward. It was great being so close to the action and hearing the shouts. Clearly Chambers is the big voice, but was great to hear Spence talking to Edwards and working out their partnership. Think that once Edwards understands the system and the players get to know him, he could be a real asset. Flynn Downes looked good when he came on, really keen to get about and get onto the ball. Was a little surprised that Dozzell didn't offer more in the first half. Few nice touches but not enough of his passes came off. |
