I really want KE to work but from the majority of performances last season came across very much in the vain of Dean McDonald, not showing what he can really do.
It only works for Jackson when the opponent plays a high line and we put the ball over the top for him to run into space. When he played against Newport he played as the target man which was doomed to failure from when Lambert tried it over and over and got the same output.
I remember watching Kuqi play for Sheff Weds at portman road and he looked truly awful, BFJ gets hold of him and makes him a league beater! Credit where credit is due.......
i agree. hearing supporters moaning as we were not shooting just showed that they have never played the game.... having two walls of yellow in front of the goal and then a keeper pushed the sideways play. When we got behind them (newport) were clueless and went into panic mode.
Dobra turning and running at the defence was for alot of the game our biggest goal threat; Newport got wise and just had people picking him up and at some points he had 3 Newport players around him. Another day Dobra would have scored the second half chance but seconds earlier he got hacked int he build up, ref played on, he got up and made that run to be in got in a positive position!
When norwood went off we essentially went to 10 men with Jackson playing the point striker.... something we all know he isn't that great at and why Newport looked less nervous.
The quality of our passing was great, seeing a match where we get 26 shots, 70% possession etc is like night and day to the Lambert era where the whole game would have been hoof ball to striker and looking to lucky second balls... those were dark days.
Did anyone seem him bust a lung late in the second half to get back on the rare Newport attack and we were exposed? Not sure i ever saw Dozzell do that.
Yep - some chap called 'Craig' seems to love his own voice... the only point that made marginal sense was if after 8 matches and we are off the play off zone will there be questions asked, But surely that question should be asked then and not now after one league match and one cup game.
Is there an idea of what ITFC players are in the last year of their contracts? Even if Lord Lambert does something honourable, what options are left for the new guy(s).
This season is slipping away and the calls to rebuild will be very limited with players able to walk on free (or even at next window) and we now have the wage restrictions.
Just think about it: New manager - needs time Players able to leave on free Limited wage budget
I read this forum from time to time and clearly many have fallen into (deep) disillusion... gripping to 'defo info' threads to cheer them up or flaming any suggestions by others with we 'don't have' any money.
For myself the performances are improving on the pitch since PL came into post. We do have an element of pace and better movement in our team when going forward, but we clearly lack invention/killer ball from a Magilton, Currie, George or dos santos type player.
It pains me every time we get a set piece, that other than JL we struggle to deliver any danger. Maybe I was fortunate to see Thompson, Venus and Unsworth deliver.
Many of the existing players had to previously endure/promote the MM way of playing - principally making us difficult to play against. It was very kick and run at times.
New transitions take time and we are behind on that process to our current pains.
Like many I would like to see some new faces who will improve us. But in today's world of budgets and limits even ME will have to consider the next steps carefully, but I hope any potential targets were established prior to PL appointment.
I've done some lazy scouting, looking at who is on free transfers and may consider a short term deal which could be loaded with renewal, coaching oppo and mighty bonus if we stay in the division.
Amongst others ...Toure, Essien, Assou Ekotto, Caulker are all without clubs and yes wages would no doubt be high(er) but is that the risk you have to take if we cannot attract players from already established contractual arrangements.
ME is a businessman and he will no doubt have experience in fixing short term challenges within his empire... this usually means importing talent or technology for a business environments which need to be switch on ready. This is called a War Chest.
I'm sure many will disagree with the above and I'm happy to be flamed by any budgies who read this.
