O'Neil: We Came Up Against a Side in a Good Vein of Form
at 10:54:12

Guys, if you CAREFULLY read what O'Neill actually said, it "LOOKED LIKE" a side that had been put together versus a team which has been together a long time. And I think that was spot on, after the first 20 minutes; we did look like a team which has been together a long time! The fact it only took us 20 minutes to gel together, even with 10 changes to the side (the same as them), is a testament to how well we are now coached as a single squad. I was so pumped after watching the game that I spent an hour watching Wolves supporters on youtube bemoaning the difference between us!

McKenna: No Getting Away From It, Four Wins From 15 is Not Good Enough
at 11:10:20

I just love all the people on here, with all their accumulated managerial experience, telling McKenna that he has none. McKenna is young and inexperienced, yes. Like all managers, he will learn with time and gain that experience. But should we give him that chance? Yes, at least until the board find someone who is clearly much better (and you won't find many of them coming down to League 1). That's football nowadays, and mostly always was. Even Man City spent fortunes for several seasons before they started to become successful. One season of big spending does NOT in itself make a team. It can help, but any success within three years of "the new approach" can only be looked on as a bonus, not a right.

Colchester Sack Former Blues Defender Brown
at 12:14:38

Churchmans, you are talking a load of rubbish. I have been an avid Town supporter for over 50 years; but I play Walking Football for Col U, and also attend other Col U events. I often wear my Town shirt while doing so, and have NEVER had a bad word said to me. Plenty of banter, yes, but I am more than happy to handle that. OK, I grant you there will be some Col U "supporters" who hate Ipswich, just as there are Southend supporters who hate Colchester. But that really is the maniac fringe, not the 90% who are real football supporters. Whilst I will always be 100% Ipswich, I still wish Colchester well. Incidentally, we (ColU Walking Football) recently beat Ipswich 9-0 at Portman Road. Sorry, just had to get that in!

MacAnthony: Ashton's Not Going to Be Offering Stupid Wages
at 14:55:59

OldFart71, actually, you are wrong; most UK jobs are today filled via agencies (apart from posts at the JobCebtre level). And those agants do exactly the same thing when they put forward a suitable candidate, and try to squeeze the best salary out of the employer (because the agents fee is usually a percentage of the salary). So the real world is no different to football.

Johnson: I'm So Blown Away By Everything
at 14:42:52

“I can only imagine what those days were like, when you were able to get on a plane and go and watch them compete internationally"... most of us could only afford the ferry boat, the one that sank a few years later. But I loved every minute of it, especially the 2-1 win at Feyenoord - though the 4-0 defeat at FC Bruges wasn't quite as happy an occasion.

Whilst it all looks very nice for the locals, surely this would also mean the end of the fanzone? Presumably they wouldn't want the great unwashed (with unsuitable footwear) tearing up their lovely new 3G. If so, that would be such a shame - the fanzone is the only good thing the club has done in years for us long-suffering supporters - it would be a real kick in the teeth.

Colchester Parking and Shuttle Buses

Anyone know if the new (free) Cuckoo Farm car park on the A12 is available for an evening match, to save having to go into town? I know it is good for afternoon matches, but not sure if it closes when the park-and-ride buses stop. I have scoured both Colchester and Essex websites for info, but nothing is clear.

McCarthy Set for £1m Bonus if Town Stay Up
at 09:45:56

OK, I understand no decision can ever be right in everyones eyes, but these appointments make perfect sense in the current circumstances. I've always enjoyed watching Mick's teams, it might not be pretty football, but he gets players playing above themselves and giving it 100%. Thats what we need in the position we are in.

I have stopped going, purely because I am fed up paying through the nose to see over-paid prima-donnas only giving 50% - atm I prefer my local football on a Sunday, it is more exciting. If that changes at PR, and also the fair wage structures take hold across the championship, then the man at the helm is worth £1M or more; and I will certainly re-start contributing my cash again at the turnstiles. I will pay through the nose for good product, but not for half-hearted rubbish.

So, MM & TC to sort the squad out and start the rebuilding; MH to learn "on the job" for a few years time when the club has stabilised. I real don't think ME could have (realistically) done any better - yes maybe 'Arry would have been great, but I don't think even Marcus pockets are that big! (not just his wages, but the transfer/wages money that 'Arry would need). Ipswich are not rich to the extent of some other Championship clubs, and we need to stabilise at a sensible cost level, then build efficiently for the longer term without throwing money away.

So well done Marcus, and even Cleggy, on this one!
