| News Comment | Bolton Could Be Liquidated as Takeover Collapses at 11:04:06
Bolton's slide can be traced to their years in the Premiership where they ran up debts of £150m just to tread water so in the long term they only have themselves to blame. Then Allardyce went and it has been downhill ever since. We will drop down to 9th if they get expelled whereas Coventry, the only team to drop points against Bolton, will actually benefit by only losing one. |

I agree that the injury issue means any deal is a gamble but on a free it could be one worth taking. When Sheffield Utd looked at McGoldrick, or Bristol City at Webster, some fans would of said the same about them (especially McGoldrick) but they both finished up as their respective club's Player Of The Season and one of them is in the Premier League next season. |
| Blog Comment | We're Coming Straight Back Up and No One Can Tell Me Otherwise at 15:14:35
If Bolton survive, they and possibly Rotherham are better teams than us as proven by the table so no doubt they will have just as good a chance of bouncing back as us, actually a better chance probably as they've done it before in recent seasons so know what it takes. Add in to that the teams in the top 8 of L1 who don't make it up this year who know that league inside and out and I think Town will find it is far from a cake walk regardless of who we keep or sign. Being positive is great but we're not exactly known for bouncing back or beating teams from the lower leagues. Add in if our attendances fall to a 9-12k level then the financial impact well make it harder and harder with every year we spend there. |
| News Comment | The Ipswich Derby Should Be the Easiest Game All Season - Notes for Norwich at 10:12:58
Unfortunately I can't see us getting anything from this game except possibly our first caning of the season. I know the old cliche about form going out of the window at derby games but if that was true then why haven't we won at least once in recent years? And I think this will be the weekend that puts to bed any lingering hopes of survival as Rotherham have a very winnable game at home on Saturday. Still, I have my ticket and passport ready so I'll be there cheering them on regardless. |
| News Comment | QPR 3-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:16:11
Every season one or two teams go on a good run and escape from the trapdoor. This season it will be Hull (13 points from the last 15) and Millwall - not us, not by a long way. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-2 West Bromwich Albion - Match Report at 22:27:51
We need to win around half the games left to stand a fighting chance of surviving. And tomorrow Millwall play Bolton at home and Reading play away to a Wigan side on a run of 4 losses so a home & away win respectively will see them pull further away from the bottom three and leave us at least 7 points adrift if Rotherham get nothing. |
| News Comment | Knudsen: Summer Interest Was Concrete and Still Waiting for Contract Offer From Town at 13:00:37
Considering that come January we will either still be in the relegation zone or hovering just above it we will not be in a position to offer him the wages he will seek as we could still end up in League 1. And we might not be in a position to sell him as he will probably get a bigger signing on fee if he signs for a club at the end of his contract so he might be willing to let his contract run down and there is nothing we can do about it. |
| News Comment | Roberts: Something to Build On at 09:47:47
Was impressed with Roberts and Sears on Saturday but can't help thinking the damage has been done. I'm more confidant about the game at Reading than I would be with Hurst in charge but draw or lose against them and the same against WBA and the hill to climb could be too much for this group of players, let alone what it could be by January. A win however and who knows what that will do for the confidence and belief in Lambert. Hurst's legacy was to hollow out all the quality the first team had and I can't think of a previous manager who has done so much damage to Town in such a short space of time. |
| News Comment | Chambers: We Need to Translate Performances in Training into Displays in Matches at 11:50:47
I get the loan situation in that we have 6 but can only have 5 in the match day team but why drop Donacien and leave in Graham who is poor? Ward is a better option than Graham and lets you then play Donacien, who if the permit situation is sorted will be one of ours anyway so will get game time while we wait for the permit. I just hope that we didn't agree to a 'Graham must play' clause in the loan contract. |
