Just need to drain him of his Chelsea-ness.

Help a town fan get blotto on Saturday

I'm in IP3 and have my own designated parking spot you can use. I rarely use it myself as there is always space at the front in my cul-de-sac, also I'm a lazy sod who'd rather not walk the extra 40 or 50 yards.

PM me if you've exhausted other options.

My only criticism of Portman Road
at 22:42 1 May 2024

Yeah. Makes sense. Even on the video footage of games you can see the people at the front whose heads seem barely able to see over it. I guess they didn't see the need to do that at the more sedate Churchmans end. Was just a bit of a culture shock once I'd done my apprenticeship at the other end.

Goodison Park was another place I remember having low sunk terraces.

Pre-all seater, I remember getting a shock by how much more difficult it was to scale the North Stand wall after six or seven years of easily getting over the Churchmans one.

Ah. Just checked.

Yep, the 5-1 was the next season in 04/05 along with the 2-0 at Bramall Lane I referenced. Wasn't a Kuqi brace, Unsworth got the other one.

Didn't do the cup tie, typical Royle era crazy game.

Butcher going felt truly like the end for me. I think Cooper and McCall were the only UEFA Cup final players who stayed into Division Two and that wasn't for long.

Obviously we’d all like to go up for us..
at 22:03 1 May 2024

Whilst that is true, they will have a promotion (or at least being involved with one) on their CV. They would have improved their game under the best young coach in England and have an enhanced reputation. If you've been signed/coached by Mckenna you must be good.

Their stocks will improve by association.

If we do finish the job on Saturday, I will be elated and then on 30 June when several walk out of that door for the last time, I'll be heartbroken. We'll be into ruthless, no time for sentiment territory which is going to be a strange shift to get used to given the affinity and bond we've all built up between players, staff, supporters.

We had some real ding dongs with Sheff U (a kind of rivalry had been established with them before his time) and this led to some proper atmospheres at PR, especially Lower North.

The two examples I mainly remember were the 'Dale Roberts' game (I think most people will know which one that refers to) and a Tuesday nighter when we done them 5-1. I recall going up there and seeing us beat them 2-0 as well, Kuqi got 2 I think.

I think he loved the spice our games had and while we were pretty damn vitriolic towards him, he never took it to heart. I think we got to like him because he a. wasn't bothered by the cu next tuesday stuff and b/ it became pretty clear he had a lot of respect for us. That respect grew into mutual respect then a weird kind of love.

Had he been unwell? Really sad news, 76 is no age at all these days. Such a talented man.

That boy has probably seen us lose no more than 10 games in his life!

What a great time to start supporting the team. And what an opportunity we have to pick up a generation we may possibly have lost across the county borders up until a few years ago.

When I first started watching Town, we were one of Europe's best but by the time I was fully appreciative and started going regularly, Mills turned into Gernon, Thijssen turned into Putney etc. Let's hope this era is here for a long long time.

Huddersfield’s formation Saturday

I think it will be a condensed down version of the Maidstone home game. Totally different result you'd hope but I can't really see, in terms of stats, anything other than us having around two dozen goal attempts and upwards of 65% possession.

As I say, we just need to make chances pay and be careful of them on the break.

I'm going to need to watch that a few more times to work out my favourite bit/bits of that.

The togetherness is really quite something there, as is the connection between fans and players.

Proper lump in throat stuff with the Kayden/Janoi hug and Kieran just staring in awe of the fans then slowly releasing a smile.

Job to do and everything but I'd love so much for us to get 3 or 4 up on Sat, send Janoi on and see him get the fifth or something.

I'd rather we celebrated our own success than mocked another clubs failure.

Makes it look like we're happier they failed than pleased we succeeded *

Fine. We'll keep hold of them then.

They can keep the players that have got them lower than us.

Two deflected goals last night too.

If they worked on the dubious goals panel, some of that Leicester lot would be awarding around 90% of all goals scored as ogs.
