| News Comment | Campbell Wants Championship Loan at 12:34:53
Remember Mobray being brought back from a coaching role to marshall the defence prior to promotion? If we don't get similar, and if not Campbell, then somebody pleeeeze to do the same role. If not (and there is no word of anyone coming in at the moment), it's curtains and we will go into League 1 with a very famous manager (assuming he doesn't walk by then). |
| News Comment | Clegg: Keane Under No Additional Pressure at 17:02:17
Well, I think that after the inevitable draws/losses in the next couple of games, RK will be under some PRESSURE and so will the Board to DO SOMETHING. Sacking RK will be a big news story, won't it? A win is unlikely in the next couple of games. RK may be able to bring in a defender in a loan deal, but that will still leave the striker situation... and team management/motivation of what he has already got is not in his book. |
| News Comment | Keane: Unbelievably Bad Goals at 10:17:08
I was responsible for the comment 'get Joe R back' - his record at ITFC was good, considering that he was being forced to sell players because of the financial mess the club was in at the time. He left because he was not able to get the money for the strikers (and other) players he needed to make a real push. The difficulties with RK's management are being exposed - questions around team management and motivation and resorting to buying his way out of trouble. It is significant that Robson brought in only a small number of players during his time - RK tends to go for the cheque book when there are problems rather than being able to work with/motivate what he has already and , unlike Sunderland when he was there, the money pit here is shallow. |
| News Comment | Keane: Unbelievably Bad Goals at 23:00:27
That was BAD. Newcastle overpowered the Town easily - they were not even trying. Yes, Newcastle are top of the league, but the worrying thing is that we can't even be sure of a point mid week against lesser opposition. I get the feeling that we are still dumbstruck about having someone like Keane as manager. The trouble is, the more games that go by without the win, the greater the serious risk of relegation. I don't think that it is too premature to talk like this. Yes, Robson had a similar bad start at the club - so shall we cling to this parallel without admitting that the RK idea has been a bad, expensive mistake? I agree with blue in that I get the feeling that RK is not right for this club. Get Joe R back - while there is (January) money to spend.....!! |
| News Comment | Quinn: It Will Take Time at 16:51:20
Forget promotion this season. David J (our last accomplished striker apart from Marcus Stewart) had a good point on Radio Suffolk last night - a team is only as good as its strikers - look at the 2nd half substitutions of Forest...we ain't got anyone similar, and it feels unlikely that we will get anyone in time to play catch-up this season..... |
| News Comment | Keane Will Look to Loan Market at 17:23:21
'Give me the money for 2 top class strikers and I'll get you promoted' - quote from Joe R when he was the manager. Who was he able to get with the money available? Well, ok, he had Bent and Shefti, which probably equates to one good striker and a half. Then some other blokes who couldn't score, then Lee...........who didn't score..........It's goals that get you promoted. Striker/s on loan, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze! |

| News Comment | Keane: I\'ve Learned a Lot About My Players at 12:54:50
Fugs says: looking back over the (Sunderland) history - am I right in thinking that things started badly there but that RK's (very successful) 'get out of jail card' was obtained through a spending spree and a churn through a huge number of players, rather than 'motivating the team' etc etc.? That is the worrying thing, given that ME has said that we have to sell before we buy - i.e. no vasts sums to use on a spending spree. By and large, we have the team we have + a few recruits which on last nights evidence look dodgy to say the least. What happens if we get to 8 games without a win? I am sure (hope) that we will not get to that, though...Counago the unlikely saviour? |
